Vom 29.06. - 02.07.2008 besuchte der mauritische Staatspräsident Hon. Sir Anerood Jugnauth in Begleitung seiner Gattin Lady Sarojini unsere Insel.-
From June 29 to July 2nd, 2008 the Mauritian President, Hon. Sir Anerood Jugnauth accompanied by his wife Lady Sarojini, visited our island.
Mit allen Ehren versteht sich.-

Das Programm hatte es in sich.-

Gleich am ersten Tag gab es einen Bootstrip zur Ile aux Cocos.Glücklicherweise hatte die Lagune genug Wasser und Man musste nicht durch die Lagune stapfen...-
On the very first day there was a boat trip to the Ile aux Cocos.Fortunately, the lagoon had enough water and noone had to trudge through the lagoon ...
Auf der Insel wurde ihnen neben dem neuen Gebäude, das die Guards beziehen, auch die Seevögel gezeigt, für die die Insel so bekannt ist. Ile aux Cocos ist Naturschutzgebiet und Touristenattraktion zugleich.-
On the island, they were shown, beside the new building housing the guards during the night, the sea birds for which the island is so famous. Ile aux Cocos is both, a nature reserve and a tourist attraction.

Einen Tag später ging es dann zum Maison des Pêcheurs mit neuen Kühlanlagen für Fisch...-

Wer aufgepasst hat, hat den Schirm in der Hand des Chefkommissars gesehen....-

Unter der Überdachung des Zeltes war man noch einigermaßen geschützt...-
Under the roof of the tent you were still somewhat protected ...-
Aber für alle, die an der Zeremonie beteiligt waren, hieß es auf der Hut sein, Wasser war überall!-
But to keep the water out was an ongoing struggle for all involved in the ceremony...
Selbst während der Rede blieben die Schirme aufgespannt...., ganz sicher ein Festprogramm, das auch der Präsident mit seiner Frau nicht so schnell vergessen werden.!-
Even during the speech the umbrellas remained open ..., definitely a festive program that the President and his wife will not forget anytime soon.! -
