Entre des bananes et sous des cocos - Bernard et Pierrette....

Ce sont Pierrette et Bernard, un couple francais d'une endroit près de Bordeaux, que je pouvais rencontrer ici il y a quelques semaines pendant leur vacances à Rodrigues...-

These are Pierette and Bernard, a French couple coming from near Bordeaux, who I met during their holidays in Rodrigues.-

Diese beiden, Pierrette und Bernard, ein französisches Paar aus der Nähe von Bordeaux, habe ich während ihrer Ferien auf Rodrigues kennengelernt. Et ici des bananes impréssionantes de Jean Limock, un ami en commun qui nous a présenté.-

Und hier die beeindruckenden Bananen von Jean Limock, einem gemeinsamen Freund ... Et voilà, c'est lui, notre ami en commun, Jean Limock qui loue aussi des bungalows à Anse Aux Anglais...

And here he is, our friend in common, Jean Limock who, by the way, rents also a bungalow to visitors in Anse Aux Anglais...

Und hier ist er auch schon...Jean Limock, unser gemneinsamer Freund, der übrigens in Rodrigues in Anse Aux Anglais auch an Gäste vermietet...Jean a cru que l'histoire de Bernard et Pierrette est si spéciale, qu'il faut la raconter...-
So it's thanks to Jean that I heard a very special story...-
Jean meinte, dass diese beiden so eine besondere Geschichte haben, dass sie hier erzählt werden sollte...Alors , on y va. C'est Pierrette. Elle doit rire. Mais elle est aussi fière. Pendant leur séjour de trois mois (!!!) à Rodrigues, après tout, leur prémières vacances pendant leur vie (avec 8 enfants desvacances n'étaient pas possible), elle n'a pas seulement vu des grands bananiers de Jean Limock ou tous les différents coins de l'île, se présentant en si beaucoup de couleurs et facettes, elle n'a pas seulement pris l'avion pour la première fois dans sa vie (excitant...!), non, elle a en plus aussi appris nager en 25 lecons , données par son instructeur personnel, son mari Bernard. Et tout ca à presque 82 ans et après 60 ans de mariage!-

So let's start with Pierrette. She can't help but laugh. But to be honest she is also proud. During their stay of 3 months (!!!), their first real holidays ever (as with 8 children holiday had always been impossible), she has not only seen the big banana trees of Jean Limock or each corner of the whole island presenting itsself in so many different facettes ad colours, she has not only been in an airplane for the first time of her life (imagine the excitement...!), no, it's the swimming which makes her really proud, learnt here in 25 lessons by her personal swimming instructor Bernard. And this at age 82 after 60 years of being married!

Los geht's mit Pierrette. Sie muss lachen. Aber in echt ist sie auch ein wenig stolz. Während ihres 3 (!!!) monatigen Aufenthalts, überhaupt ihr erster wirklicher Urlaub in ihrem Leben (mit 8 Kindern war an Wegfahren einfach nie zu denken), hat sie nicht nur die großen Bananenbäume von Jean Limock gesehen oder die gesamte Insel entdeckt, die sich in so vielen verschiedenen Farben und Facetten präsentiert, sie hat nicht nur zum ersten Mal ein Flugzeug bestiegen (stellen Sie sich ruhig mal diese Aufregung vor...), nein, es ist das Schwimmen, das sie wirklich stolz macht, hier hat sie nämlich in 25 Lektionen Schwimmen gelernt dank ihres persönlichen Schwimmlehrers Bernard, ihrem Mann. Und das alles mit knapp 82 und 60 Jahren Ehe...!

Malheureusement nous n'avons ni des photos montrant Pierrette en trein de nager, ni des photos quand Bernard fait la pêche au gros, une passion qui lui menait plusieurs fois en haute mer ici. La pêche est une grande passion pour l' octogénaire. Alors, juste une photo d'eux au tombe de Philibert Marragon qu'on va présenter une autre fois concernant la significance qu'il avait pour le développement de Rodrigues.

Unfortunately we neither have a photo showing Pierrete doing her swimming, nor Bernard when he was on a big game fishing outing, a passion he tried to satisfy here as often as possible. So just a photo at the tombstone of Phiibert Marragon who we will present soon concerning the significance he had for the development in Rodrigues in the past.

Leider haben wir weder gute Bilder von Pierrete im Wasser, noch Bilder von Bernard beim Hochseefischen, denn das ist seine große Leidenschaft. Der knapp 80 jährige ließ selten eine Gelegenheit ungenutzt verstreichen und fuhr so oft er konnte raus zum Angeln...Hier allerdings am Grabstein von Philibert Marragon, den wir an anderer Stelle mal etwas ausführlicher in seiner Bedeutung für Rodrigues vorstellen werden.

Tout a commencé avec des brochures qui leur fille a apporté l'année dernière de leurs vacances à Maurice. Ils ont y découvert l'île Rodrigues, et car ils n'ont jamais entendu de cet drôle de l' île si loin, ils étaient convaincus que cela serait exactement l'endroit pour commencer une nouvelle carrière comme voyageurs...Et...ils l'ont si beaucoup aimée, ce qu'ils envisagent déjà un retour cet année même. Alors, pas seulement des cocos, des bananes et des papayas vont être content de les revoir...Ca c'est sûr!!!

Everything started with the brochures their daughter and son-in-law brought back from a holiday in Mauritius. They discovered Rodrigues and as it was an island they never had heard of, they were convinced that it was just the ideal spot to start with their new career as travellers. And they liked it so much, that in November 2009 they want to come back...And for sure, not only the coconuts, bananas and paw-paws will be delighted...!!!

Auf Rodrigues aufmerksam wurden die beiden durch Prospekte, die ihre Tochter letztes Jahr von einem Mauritius-Urlaub mitbrachten, ihnen gefiel die Vorstellung, in einer ruhigeren Ecke Urlaub zu machen. Und es hat ihnen so gut gefallen, dass sie bereits im November wiederkommen wollen...Nicht nur die Kokosnüsse, Bananen und Papayas werden sich freuen...!!!
