Hilfe aus Rodrigues für die Opfer der Flash Floods letzten Monat in Mauritius

Ich hatte bislang keine Zeit, darauf zurückzukommen, will es aber wenigstens kurz hier anmerken, die enorme Solidarität für die durch die Flash Floods betroffenen Familien, die zum Teil ihr Hab und Gut und ihre Häuser verloren haben, kam auch aus Rodrigues. Gleich nach Bekanntwerden der Katastrophe wurde ein Konto eröffnet und gesammelt, Samstag drauf sogar einen ganzen Tag in Mont Lubin. Rs 590 171 kamen bis dahin zusammen. Gestern wurde Prime Minister Ramgoolam vom Chef Kommissar Serge Clair der Scheck der Sammlung übergeben, insgesamt sind es mehr als Rs 600 000 geworden. Ich finde das ganz bemerkenswert, denn in Rodrigues leben noch immer viele Einwohner in recht bescheidenen Verhältnissen.-

I have had no time to get back to it, but it will at least briefly noted here that the tremendous solidarity for the families affected by the flash floods on 30 May in Mauritius who have lost their belongings and their houses, also came from Rodrigues. Immediately after the announcement of the disaster an account was opened for donations, collection boxes were made available also at places which are frequented a lot as banks, the bakery and the library. Saturday, one week after the tragic events, even a whole day of collection was dedicated to the victims at Mont Lubin. Rs 590 171 came together until then. Yesterday, the check of the total collection was handed over by Chief Commissioner Serge Clair to Prime Minister Ramgoolam in Mauritius, the amount has exceeded even Rs 600 000. I find this quite remarkable, because many residents still live in quite modest conditions in Rodrigues.If there is one positive effect of the floods, than it is for sure the spirit of solidarity which can still be seen after nearly a month coming from everywhere in Mauritius.
