The rat is already snow from yesterday, today it's the time of the ox....
Joli Store 11am...Dieses neue Chinesische Jahr beginnt etwas anders als all die anderen Neujahrsfeste, die wir bis dato die letzten 11 Jahre hier erlebt haben. Anstelle der großen 6 Uhr morgens-Knallerei um die alten Geister aus den Häusern und Läden zu vertreiben, war es heute wirklich recht still. Geknallt wurde eher nach dem Motto, wer wach ist, knallt, wer noch schläft, vertreibt die Geister halt später..., sehr wahrscheinlich eine Begleiterscheinung der kürzlich eingeführten Sommerzeit.
All unseren sino-rodriguischen Freunden und Bekannten wünschen wir ein friedliches, gesundes und erfolgreiches Jahr des Büffels!
Somehow this year's festivities of our Sino-Rodriguan community have been quite different so far compared to last year, no troops from Mauritius are coming over and even the traditional fire works didn't start as usually at 6am as it had always happened in the past, at least as long as we have been living here. I must admit, I was sort of disappointed when I was strolling around early this morning and only few people fired their old-ghosts-go-away crackers...The summer saving time seems to have changed the habits, so just the one's up early made the old ghosts leave early...
