Fête du Poisson - Erster März....

...fand dieses Jahr das Fest zur Eröffnung der Netzfishing-Saison statt...-

Wie immer standen die Menschen an, um vom ersten Mulet in diesem Jahr etwas mit nach Hause zu nehmen, Man sagt, es seien an diesem ersten Tag 6.5 t Fisch gefangen worden.-

Anemone, an diesem Tag eingeweiht, ist bereits das 3. Glasbodenboot mit dem Fischer aus der südlichen Region versuchen wollen, die Lagune etwas ruhen zu lassen und statt zu fischen lieber Touristen herauszufahren. In diesem Fall ist es Zameer Clarisse, ein alteingesessener Netzfischer aus Port Sud-Est, der sich entschieden hat, seine Netze in Zukunft nicht mehr auszuwerfen. Die Finanzierung ist über Mauritius gelaufen, Global Environment Facility Small Granty Programme.-

Übrigens auch in Mauritius geht das Netzfischen am 1.März los. Laut eines Artikels im L'express vom heutigen Tag gibt es insgesamt im ganzen Lande 600 Netzfischer, davon 120 Besitzer. Ein Problem, das zur Zerstörung der Lagune beiträgt ist die Benutzung von Blei, mit der die äußeren Enden der Netze bestückt sind, um sie vom Treiben abzuhalten. Werden die Fische in die Boote gezogen, gibt es oftmals Schäden an den Korallen....

By the way, also for Mauritius the first of March symbolises the opening of the net fishing season. In L'Express I found following information: In total 600 persons depend on net fishing by 120 of them owning the equipment. Concerning the aspect of lagoon conservation it is to be noted that fishermen still use lead on the extremities of the nets to prevent them from floating. Once they lift the fish onto their boats, it causes coral damages.
