"Fliegen lernen" und verrückt werden?...Oder: Ein Tag im September mit dem Neuen Blogger Interface - "Learning how to fly" and getting nuts?...One day with the new Blogger Interface

Heute will google ganz offensichtlich, dass ich entweder verrückt werde oder dass ich sie doch lobe, wie auch immer, sie wollen auf jeden Fall, dass ich heute ihr neues Interface auch wirklich benutze, ich kann zwar nochmal zurückgehen auf "Revert to legacy version", aber jedes Mal, wenn ich mich erneut einlogge, kommt erstmal das neue Interface. Um ehrlich zu sein, es macht mich schon im Vorfeld fertig zu sehen, wieviel Zeit ich nun wahrscheinlich brauche, um etwas posten zu können.

Today Google wants me either to go nuts or that I start praising them, whatever it is, they seem to be  decided to see me using their New Interface today, it is true, until now I still can revert to the "Legacy Version ", but every time I log in now, it's the new Interface coming up . To be honest, it wears me out in advance to see how much time I will need to be able to post something.

Beim letzten Mal irgendwann Ende Juli, als ich mein Glück versuchte, ging wirklich fast gar nichts. Mal abgesehen davon, dass ich schon alleine den Icon nicht fand für New Post (ein schlichtes + Zeichen ganz unten rechts statt unverwechselbar und sichtbar im oberen Bereich des Dashboards). Ich konnte weder den Text noch Bilder zentrieren, Fotos vom PC uploaden war eine mystisch bis schmerzhafte Angelegenheit, da die Fotos immer im Nirwarna verschwanden, das mit den Labeln klappte ebenfalls nicht, und auch die URL links, die man ja natürlich braucht, wenn man Quellen halbwegs richtig angeben möchte, führten immer nur zu mir selbst. Selbst die Text Font Farben waren anders, und als Gewohnheitstier entschied ich mich die alte Version so lange wie möglich zu nutzen. Doch was bleibt mir langfristig...? Mache ich eben heute einen Selbstversuch um Google, und vor allem mir, eine Chance zu geben, denn was mache ich, wenn man nicht mehr zur klassischen Version zurückkann? -

The last time at the end of July, when I tried my luck, almost nothing really worked. Apart from the fact that I couldn't find the icon for New Post (a simple + sign at the bottom right instead of being unmistakable and visible in the upper area of the dashboard). I could neither center the text nor the pictures, uploading photos from the PC was a mystical to painful affair, as the photos always disappeared in the nirwarna or moved around within the text as done by ghost hands, adding labels did not work, and as to creating URL links, which of course you need if you do want to quote sources halfway correctly, the links always led to myself. Even the text font colors were different, and as a creature of habit I decided to use the old version as long as possible. But what options will be left in the long term ...? So I am doing a self-experiment today to give Google, and above all myself, a chance, because what do I do when I can't go back anymore to the legacy version? 

Mein Versuchskaninchen ist heute eine Maus, nein, diesmal keine Uli Stein Maus...:
Ich habe letztens Fotos auf meinem PC gefunden von einem Kinderbuch, das nicht ganz die Geschichte von Lindbergh erzählt, aber von einer Maus, die fliegen lernt. Wollte ich immer mal zeigen, hatte es dann wieder vergessen, soll die Maus also jetzt "fliegen"!-

My guinea pig for today is a mouse, no, not an Uli Stein Mouse....
I recently found photos on my PC of a children's book that tells not quite the story of Lindbergh but of a mouse who wants to learn how to fly. I always wanted to present the book here, then I forgot all about it, so shall the mouse "fly" now!

Die kleine belesene Maus wird vom Erfinderfieber gepackt. -

Mit einem abgebrannten Streichholz zeichnet sie erste Skizzen.-

Papierflügel nach dem Vorbild der Fledermäuse schaffen es nicht sie in der Luft zu halten. Beinahe kommt die Maus unter die Räder, als sie von der Uhr in der Bahnhofshalle segelt. Der Dampf der Lokomotiven wird zur Inspiration. -

Paper wings modeled on bats do not manage to keep them in the air. The mouse almost gets under the wheels when it sails down from the clock in the station hall. The steam from the locomotives becomes inspiration.

Die technischen Zeichnungen werden komplexer. Die Mittel bleiben einfach: ein Feuerzeug, Zahnräder, Metall und Schrauben. Voilà, ein Dampfmotor. Flügel und Ruder dran: Eine "raffinierte Flugmaschine".-

The technical drawings become more complex. The resources remain simple: a lighter, gears, metal and screws. Voilà, a steam engine. Wings and rudder on: A "sophisticated flying machine".

Sie schafft es aber leider nur in die Zeitung: "Hamburgs fliegende Maus gesichtet!" "Sensation! Tollkühne Maus mit Flugapparat" - dieser aber zerschellt noch vor der Elbe auf dem Gehweg, da hilft auch die professionell aussehende Fliegerbrille nichts.-

Unfortunately it only makes it into the newspaper: "Hamburg's flying mouse spotted!" "Sensation! A daredevil mouse with a flying machine" - but it shatters on the sidewalk in front of the Elbe, so even the professional-looking aviator goggles are of no use.-

Sensationelles Scheitern ist kein Grund aufzugeben! Die Maus verbessert den Motor und setzt das Gestell auf Räder. Vor den Fenstern lauern die Eulen, die von der kleinen Leckerei in der Zeitung gelesen haben. Sie wirken bedrohlich, haben einen starr-fixierenden Blick und warten nur darauf im Sturzflug herab zu sausen. -

Sensational failure is no reason to give up! The mouse improves the motor and puts the frame on wheels. The owls lurk outside the windows who have read about the little treat in the newspaper.

Eines Tages zieht die Maus ihr Fluggerät durch die Straßen und erklimmt - patschnass vom Regen - den Kirchturm. - 

One day the mouse pulls its aircraft through the streets and climbs up the church tower - soaking wet from the rain. 

 Und dann: hebt die Maus ab, entwischt nur knapp den Eulen...-

And then the mouse takes off, barely escaping the owls....

 

...Und: schafft als erste einen "Alleinflug" über den Atlantik. -

 ... And: being the first to "fly solo" across the Atlantic.

 

In den USA wird sie als Held empfangen.-

In the USA it is received as a hero.

Vom diebischen Nagetier wird die Maus zu einem bekannten Piloten und zieht mit einer eigenen Flugschau durch die USA. Fasziniert steht der junge Charles Lindbergh vor dem Plakat und umklammert seinen Papierflieger: auch er will fliegen, er teilt die großen Träume der kleinen Maus.-

From a thieving rodent, the mouse became a well-known pilot and traveled through the USA with its own air show. The young Charles Lindbergh stands in front of the poster, fascinated, clutching his paper airplane: he too wants to fly, he shares the big dreams of the little mouse.

Zum Buch gibt es eigentlich nicht viel mehr zu sagen, als dass ich es gerne hätte um es immer wieder anzusehen. Die Kreativität und Fähigkeiten dieser Maus haben mich beeindruckt, die Bilder, die mit den Sepiatönen das Ambiente des beginnenden 20. Jahrhunderts widerspiegeln....einfach zu schön! Aber Lindbergh ist nicht das einzige Buch von Torben Kuhlmann - Hier sind die anderen... 
Armstrong (2014) plus 2019 Sonderausgabe zum 50.Jahrestag der Mondlandung, Edison (2018), alles Mäuseabenteuer bis auf  Maulwurfstadt (2015), da geht es wohl eher um Maulwürfe. Und ganz verrücktes Timing meinerseits, ohne davon zu wissen, am 18.September, also in einer Woche, wird in Frankfurt sein neues Mäuseabenteuer vorgestellt, diesmal geht es um Einstein...

There isn't much more to say about the book than that I would like to have it myself in order to look at it over and over again. I was impressed by the creativity and abilities of this mouse, the pictures with the sepia tones that reflect the ambience of the early 20th century  ... simply too beautiful! Beside I still believe in the magic of books for children & adults and wish that the inventive spirit is spreading with every book. By the way, and good news, Lindbergh is not the only book by Torben Kuhlmann - Here are the others ...

Armstrong (2014) plus 2019 Special Edition for the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and Edison (2018), are all mouse adventures except for MOLETOWN, it's more about moles. And very crazy timing on my part, without knowing about it at all, I just learned that on September 18, so next week, his new mouse adventure will be presented in Frankfurt, this time it's about Einstein, probably available in English by January 2021 ...

Aber nun zu dem Fazit meines Selbstversuches!

Bis gestern mittag, sah es sehr stark danach aus, dass das "Fliegen" mit dem Neuen Blogger Interface nicht funktionieren würde, es war schlimmer als bei meinem ersten Versuch im Juli. Es ließ sich rein gar nichts machen. Ich sah lediglich, dass die Kritik in Bezug auf die Erkennbarkeit von Funktionen in die neue Version eingeflossen ist, aber was nützt das, wenn nichts geht und sogar mein Anfangsentwurf statt gespeichert zu werden, gleich veröffentlicht wird...
Also wieder zurück zur klassischen Version, damit ich überhaupt vorankam, da funktionierte noch immer alles.
Abends versuchte ich es dann nochmal mit der neuen Version, ich muss dann etwas mehr Internetspeed gehabt haben und auf einmal öffneten sich Funktionen, ich konnte arbeiten. Alles klappt noch nicht, die Fotos platzieren sich nicht immer dort, wohin ich sie haben will, die Preview-Funktion geht bei mir gar nicht und Label lassen sich nicht immer einfügen, dennoch: viele meiner anderen oben aufgelisteten Schwächen sind tatsächlich abgearbeitet worden. Es scheint so zu sein, dass die neue Version mehr Bandwidth benötigt als die vorhergehende, das schlussfolgere ich jedenfalls mal einfach so aus meinen letzten 24 Stunden.
Also, doch nicht verrückt geworden, doch statt des "Fliegens", bleibe ich wohl eher noch bei der "guten alten Bahn", jedenfalls solange es geht...-

But now to the conclusion of my self-experiment!

Until yesterday at noon, it looked very much that "flying" with the New Blogger Interface would not work, it was worse than my first attempt in July. There was absolutely nothing that could be done. I only saw that the criticism regarding the recognizability of functions had now been integrated into the new version, but what use is that if nothing works and even my initial draft gets published immediately instead of being saved ...

So back to the classic version in order to make at least a little progress. Here everything worked fine.

In the evening I tried again, I must have had a bit more internet speed and suddenly functions opened up, I was able to work. Everything doesn't work out yet, the photos don't always go where I want them to go, the preview function does still not work, adding labels will work only from time to time, however: many of the weaknesses listed above have actually been worked through. It seems that the new version needs more bandwidth than the previous one, at least that's what I conclude from my last 24 hours.

Well, not nuts after all, but instead of "flying", I will probably stick to the "good old train", at least as long as I can ...
