Not only on Earth Day ....Take a walk and clean up...

Lloyd & Asheline

Théo

Nochmal Lloyd...

6 bags of litter collected in just a bit more than an hour...

An average American is estimated to use about 300 pounds of plastic every year. I don't have figures for Mauritius and Rodrigues but it can't be less considering the amount of trash you can find every day, nearly everywhere. In the context of a little Earth Day project, we made a walk to the nearby beach at Millenium's Square on Friday...Asheline, Mitchell, Noah, Théo, Lloyd and another helping hand...

We didn't find rubber duckies but everything else which is polluting and threatening the marine environment: trash from paper, rotting clothes, pieces of polypropylene fishing net and discarded lengths of ropes, car tyres, aluminium cans, polyurethane foam pieces from food containers, expanded polystyrene packing, glass bottles and lots of plastic bottles and masses of plastic bags.We also found the fatal nurdles, these small plastic pieces which are often mistaken fpor fish eggs. Our activity was focused on the beach area, we were not able to collect everything we saw - we'll come back!
