Unvergessene Hildegard Knef - sie starb heute vor 8 Jahren am 1. Februar 2002 in Berlin im Alter von 76 Jahren. Dies ist eines von so vielen ihrer Lieder, die ich immer und immer wieder gerne höre...-

Unforgettable Hildegard Knef, today 8 years ago she died in Berlin...This is one of many of her songs I can hear over and over again...The English version of that great Cole Porter song with a slightly different text you can find here...

Remembrance: Zouk & Roddy....& a DVD - Please help to support the families of Roddy & Zouk

This is one of the last photos of Zouk and Roddy, taken during one of their last outings with Stephan Kreupl and Klaus Liedtke, the two German sport anglers who could be rescued 9 hours after the accident on March 13, which turned out to be fatal for our Rodriguan friends.

Stephan and Klaus who have been fishing in Rodrigues for a couple of years and known Roddy and Zouk very well, have created a DVD about the Giant Trevally (GT) reef fishing in Rodrigues with Roddy and Zouk this year, the DVD can be purchased via PayPal, the whole amount will be donated to the families of Roddy and Zouk.

"On Friday March 13th 6.30 p.m. local time our skipper Roddy Perrine and his mate Lino (Zouk) Joliecoeur lost their lives in an accident at the Passe Carangue. Klaus Liedtke and Stephan Kreupl were rescued after 9 hours. This is a painful loss for the relatives of Roddy and Zouk and also for all who have ever been fishing with them. Roddy leaves behind a wife and a son, Zouk a wife and two children.We have opened an account for both families and we hope to relieve their financial distress slightly by means of donations and selling of our DVD. Remembrance - John Hotunam

Wer Rodrigues bereits kennt, hat während seines Besuches ganz sicher auch mal Halt gemacht in John Resto's in Mangues oder im Bois d'Olive, dem neuen Restaurant von John Hotunam. John Resto's, eröffnet vor etwas mehr als 20 Jahren und die Adresse für Langusten in Rodrigues, ist ein beliebtes Ziel, angesteuert vor allem von Inselausflüglern auf Tagestour, da man dort nur mittags essen kann. Das Bois d'Olive, auch abends geöffnet, bietet neben seinem Restaurant auch einige Gästezimmer an. Leider konnte John Hotunam seinem letzten Projekt, nur einen kurzen Zeitraum begleiten.

Genau vor 3 Monaten am 18. November verstarb John Hotunam nach schwerer Krankheit und hinterließ Frau und 2 Kinder. Einen Tag später war bereits die Beisetzung, es wäre sein 56. Geburtstag gewesen.

Sein Lebenswerk wird von seinen beiden Kindern fortgesetzt.-Who has ever been to Rodrigues, will certainly have visisted John Resto's in Mangues or Bois d'Olive, the new restaurant not far from Port Mathurin. For more than 20 years John Hotunam was famous for the way he prepared sea-food in Rodrigues , his spiney lobsters were just extraordinary ...While John Resto's is particularly a location for visitors during lunch time, the food in Bois d'Olive can be enjoyed as well during evening hours and offers in addition some guest rooms too.

It has been 3 months now, that he left this world after being ill for some time. His wife and his children will continue his work. November 19, the day of his funeral, would have also been his birthday. John Hotunam was only 56 years old. R.I.P., John, you will always be remembered!
