Heimatkundliches - National Heritage Exhibition

Vorletzte Woche konnte in der Öffentlichen Bibliothek Alfred North-Coombes in Port Mathurin eine Ausstellung besucht werden, die historisches Licht auf Gebäude, Plätze und Epochen warf, die in Mauritius und Rodrigues jeder schon mal irgendwann bemerkt, frequentiert oder passiert hat, meist jedoch ohne sich zu fragen in welchem Kontext sie entstanden sind. Leider war der Teil zu Rodrigues etwas knapp ausgefallen, hier im Album jedoch zumindest ein paar Beispiele.


Heritage
" Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our cultural and national heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration. A national heritage becomes exceptional because it becomes universal in that the site belongs not only to a single group of people, but belongs also to ALL people of the country and the world irrespective of the territory on which they are located and the group/s by whom they are produced."
