Letzten Freitag sind sie gekommen - die ersten Weltumsegler der Saison. Jedes Jahr Mitte Mai, wenn die offizielle Saisonzyklon sich dem Ende neigt, beginnt die Zeit der Segler, die hier Halt machen bevor es nach Mauritius, Reunion oder Madagaskar weitergeht.Woher sie kommen, wie lange sie unterwegs sind, womit sie auf ihrem Weg zu kämpfen haben, wie es ihnen auf unserer Insel gefällt, wollen wir auch in unserem Blog behandeln.-

Last Friday they arrived, the first circumnavigators of the season. Each year mid May when the official cyclone season is ending, the sailors from all different areas in the world start calling at Port Mathurin before they continue with their itineraries to Mauritius, Reunion or Madagascar. Where do they come from, for how long have they been living in small and often wet cabins on the sea in exchange of cosy warm homes providing facilities you won’t find in the middle of a deep ocean…and how do they like our island? These and other questions will be treated in the blog too during the coming months.
