Happy Birthday, Rodrigues!

Heute ist unser Tag der Autonomie in Rodrigues, schon zum 19. Mal!-

Today is our Autonomy Day, for the 19th time already!-

Aujourd'hui Rodrigues fête son 19ième anniversaire de l'autonomie!

Wie jedes Jahr gab es einen Tag zuvor in den Schulen eine kleine Feier. Selbstversändlich wird auch gesungen!-

As every year, there was a small celebration the day before in the schools. Of course there is also some singing! -

Comme chaque année, il y avait une petite fête la veille dans les écoles. Bien sûr, il y a aussi le chant ne doit pas manquer!-

Das sind die Mädchen und Jungen des Gonzague Pierre Louis Learning Centre, unsere direkten Nachbarn mit denen CareCo seit 27 Jahren kooperiert.-

These are the girls and boys from the Gonzague Pierre Louis Learning Center, our direct neighbours with whom CareCo has been working in a sort of autonomous partnership for 27 years.

Ce sont les filles et les garçons du Gonzague Pierre Louis Learning Center, nos voisins directs avec qui CareCo travaille depuis 27 ans.Chaque ONG est autonome, mais on collabore.

Ganz links der Namensgeber der Schule, unser blinder Mitarbeiter Gonzague Pierre Louis bei CareCo hat damals Pate gestanden, der Herr mit der paspelierten Hose und dem Zettel in der Hand ist Paul Draper, das Urgestein beider Projekte. Heute liest er die Worte des Chefkommissars vor. -

On the far left the namesake of the school, our blind employee Gonzague Pierre Louis at CareCo was the sort of "godfather" at the time, the man with the piped trousers and the note in his hand is Paul Draper, the veteran of both projects. Today it's him reading the speech of the chief inspector. -

À l'extrême gauche se trouve l'homonyme de l'école, notre employé aveugle Gonzague Pierre Louis chez CareCo était le parrain à l'époque, l'homme avec le pantalon passepoil et la note à la main est Paul Draper, le "vétéran" des deux projets. Aujourd'hui, c'est lui qui lit les paroles du Chef Commissaire . -

Die Dame in Weiß ist Blanchette, auch bekannt als Franchette, die als Betreuerin in der Kantine der Schule arbeitet, das heißt sie ist nach der Zeremonie für die Leckereien verantwortlich. Keine Autonomiefeier ohne Saft und Kuchen.-

The lady in white is Blanchette, also known as Franchette, who works in the school's canteen as Carer, that means she is responsible for the goodies after the ceremony. No autonomy celebration without juice and cake.-

La dame en blanc est Blanchette, également connue sous le nom de Franchette, qui travaille dans la cantine comme Carer à l'école, ce qui signifie qu'elle est responsable des friandises après la cérémonie. Pas de célébration de l'autonomie sans jus et sans cake.

Und hier das Lied, das die Kinder wie jedes Jahr gesungen haben, "Se Pou Sa", unsere Inselhymne, die ich ausgesprochen gerne mag, leider habe ich keinen Clip gefunden, wo man mehr als die Flagge sieht. Dafür ganz unten noch einen anderen Clip zu Rodrigues, gleicher Titel, anderer Text und andere Stilrichtung...-

Here is the song that the children sang like every year, "Se Pou Sa", our island anthem, which I really like, unfortunately I have not found a clip where you can see more than the flag. Instead, at the bottom of the post, another clip on Rodrigues, a hymn to Rodrigues as well but of different style.-

Voici la chanson que les enfants chantaient comme chaque année, "Se Pou Sa", notre hymne insulaire, que j'aime beaucoup, malheureusement je n'ai pas trouvé de clip où l'on voit plus que le drapeau. A la place, en bas, un autre clip sur Rodrigues, un hymne de style différent à Rodrigues.

Das war am späten Nachmittag an der Résidence in Port Mathurin, wo sonst am Tag der Autonomie immer noch ein kleiner Cocktail stattfindet. Im Zuge der Covid-19 Pandemie fand das eher symbolisch gehaltene Programm in überschaubarem Rahmen morgens in Malabar statt und wurde im Radio übertragen .-

That was in the late afternoon at La Résidence in Port Mathurin where otherwise a small cocktail is held in the early evening on the day of autonomy. In the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, the program took place on a small, symbolic scale in the morning in Malabar and was broadcasted in the radio. -

Ces photos j'ai pris en fin d'après-midi à La Résidence de Port Mathurin, où normallement il y a encore un petit cocktail le jour de l'autonomie. Au cours de la pandémie de Covid-19, le programme s'est déroulé à petite échelle symbolique le matin à Malabar et était transmis à la radio.

Our Manchester United Connection... - BINGO !!!

Diesen Freitag gibt es eine nicht ganz alltägliche Veranstaltung in Anse Aux Anglais. Der Rodrigues Island Manchester United Supporters Club lädt ein zu einem sozialen Event der besonderen Art, ein Bingo-Abend, dessen Erlös an Care-Co und das Gonzague Pierre Louis Special Learning Centre gespendet wird. Eine tolle Sache und wir alle hoffen auf eine rege Teilnahme!-

This Friday there is a very special event in Anse Aux Anglais. The Rodrigues Island Manchester United Supporters Club invites you to a bingo evening, the proceeds of which will be donated to Care-Co and the Gonzague Pierre Louis Special Learning Center. A great thing and we all hope that you will come and participate!-

Ce vendredi, il y a un événement très spécial à Anse Aux Anglais. Le club local des supporters de Manchester United vous invite à une soirée de bingo, dont les bénéfices seront reversés à Care-Co et au Gonzague Pierre Louis Special Learning Center. Une bonne chose et nous espérons qu'une grande foule va venir et participer!

Bis vor kurzem wusste ich zwar, dass es seit vielen Jahren Massen von Manchester United Fans auf der Insel gibt, aber nicht, dass es in Rodrigues einen ganz offiziellen Manchester United Fan Club gibt. Aber es ist in der Tat der einzige ordnungsgemäß registrierte Fan-Club eines internationalen Fußballclubs, und am 9. Oktober, dem Tag des Bingo-Abends, jährt sich auch die offizielle Mitgliedschaft bei dem Fußballclub der englischen Premier League zum ersten Mal.Noch ein Grund mehr zu feiern, auch wenn es letzten Sonntag, eine herbe Niederlage zu Hause gegen Tottenham mit 1:6 zu verkraften gab. -

Until recently I knew that there had been masses of Manchester United fans on the island for many years, but not that there was a fully official Manchester United Supporters Club in Rodrigues. But it is in fact the only properly registered fan club, and October 9th, Bingo Night Day, marks the first anniversary of official membership of this popular English Premier League football club - one more reason to celebrate even though they suffered a bitter defeat at home to Tottenham 6-1 last Sunday.-

Jusqu'à récemment, je savais qu'il y avait eu des tas de fans de Manchester United sur l'île pendant de nombreuses années, mais je ne savais pas que Rodrigues avait un Fan Club de Manchester United entièrement officiel. Mais c'est en fait le seul fan club correctement enregistré, et le 9 octobre, Bingo Night Day, marque le premier anniversaire de l'adhésion officielle au club populaire de football anglais de Premier League - une raison de plus de célébrer même s'ils ont subi une amère défaite à domicile face à Tottenham 6-1 dimanche.

Manchester United hat übrigens insgesamt mehr als 245 offizielle Supporter Clubs in nicht weniger als 72 Ländern.Und wir in Rodrigues gehören dazu!

By the way, Manchester United has more than 245 official supporter clubs in no less than 72 countries - and we in Rodrigues are one of them!-

D'ailleurs, Manchester United compte plus de 245 clubs de supporters officiels dans pas moins de 72 pays - et nous, à Rodrigues, en faisons partie!

Mehr als 100 Fans kommen regelmäßig zu den monatlichen Treffen nach St.Gabriel. Live Streaming der Matches wird gemeinsam erlebt und manchmal auch durchlitten.-

More than 100 fans come regularly to the monthly meetings in St. Gabriel. Live streaming of the matches is experienced together and sometimes suffered through.

Plus de 100 fans viennent régulièrement aux réunions mensuelles à Saint-Gabriel. La diffusion en direct des matchs est vécue ensemble et parfois subie.

Wer denkt, dass es in diesen Fanclubs "nur" um Fußball geht oder wer Bier trinkende Hooligans vor Augen hat, der dürfte sich nun wundern, denn diese Fanclubs haben eine echte soziale Ader...Während der noch andauernden Coronakrise haben Fanclubs der Roten Teufel Nahrung an Bedürftige ausgeliefert, und selbst unser rodriguischer Club hat in der kurzen Zeit seines Bestehens schon mit vielfältigen Aktionen auf sich aufmerksam gemacht.-

Anyone who thinks that these fan clubs are "only" about football or about beer-drinking hooligans, should be surprised, because these fan clubs have a real social streak ... During the still ongoing Corona crisis, Red Devil fan clubs delivered food to the needy, and even our Rodriguan club has drawn attention to itself already with a variety of activities in the short period of its existence.-

Quiconque pense que ces fan clubs ne sont "que" du football ou sur des hooligans buvant de bière, devrait être surpris, car ces fan clubs ont une véritable tendance sociale ... Pendant la crise corona, qui malheureusement dure encore, les fan clubs Red Devil ont livré de la nourriture à ceux qui ont eu besoin, et notre club à Rodrigues a également attiré l'attention sur lui-même avec une variété d'activités malgré de la courte période de son existence.

Und nun diesen Freitag die Bingo-Aktion, die den Kindern des Special Learning Centres und Care-Co zu Gute kommen soll, da wir in ganz besonderem Maße durch die Coronakrise geschwächt wurden. Durch das Fehlen internationaler Touristen seit März sowie der wirtschaftlichen Situation im allgemeinen sind sowohl die Spenden für die Schule und Care-Co wie auch unsere Einnahmen eingebrochen, und es wird mit jedem Monat schwerer, die Gelder aufzubringen, die nötig sind, um unser Rehabilitations- und Produktionszentrum aufrechtzuerhalten, das in erster Linie Menschen mit Behinderungen eine bezahlte Existenzgrundlage bietet.Ein Schließen von Care-Co würde für die meisten bedeuten, dass sie als Behinderte wohl kaum je mehr eine Anstellung bekommen würden, um ein unabhängiges Leben in Würde führen.-

And now on Friday the Bingo campaign, which is supposed to be beneficial to the children of the Special Learning Center and Care-Co, as we were particularly weakened by the Corona crisis. In the absence of international tourists, our income and donations have plummeted and every month it is getting harder to raise the funds needed to maintain our rehabilitation and production center, which primarily provides a paid livelihood for people with disabilities. Closing Care-Co would mean for most of our workers that they would hardly ever get another job allowing them to lead an independent life in dignity as any other "abled" worker.-

Et maintenant, vendredi, la soirée de Bingo, qui devrait aider les enfants du Special Learning Center et Care-Co, car nous avons été particulièrement fragilisés par la crise Corona. En l'absence de touristes internationaux, nos revenus et dons ont chuté et chaque mois il devient de plus en plus difficile de réunir les fonds nécessaires pour entretenir notre centre de réhabilitation et de production, qui fournit principalement des moyens de subsistance rémunérés aux personnes handicapées.Fermer Care-Co signifierait pour la plupart d'entre eux qu'ils n'obtiendraient pratiquement jamais encore un autre emploi en tant que personnes handicapées permettant de mener une vie indépendante en dignité.

Wir von Care-Co und dem GPL Special Learning Centre hoffen sehr, dass die Veranstaltung von vielen besucht wird. Bingospielen ist an sich nicht schwierig habe ich mir sagen lassen, die Bingokarten kosten pro Stück Rs 10, das ist nicht viel und kann uns enorm helfen!-

We at Care-Co and the GPL Special Learning Center very much hope that the event will be attended by many. Playing bingo is not difficult in itself, I was told, the bingo cards will cost Rs 10 each, that's not much and can help us tremendously! -

Nous, à Care-Co et au GPL Special Learning Centre, espérons vivement que beaucoup participeront à l'événement. Jouer au bingo n'est pas difficile en soi, m'a-t-on dit, les cartes de bingo vont coûter 10 Rs chacune, ce n'est pas beaucoup et peut nous aider énormément!

Übrigens, auch Frauen sind herzlich willkommen, in Rodrigues gibt es einen großen Anteil fußballbegeisterter Frauen, das ist auch bei dem Manchester Supporter Club der Insel nicht anders, viele der aktiven Mitglieder sind Frauen!Und das ist gut so!-

D'ailleurs, les femmes sont également les bienvenues, à Rodrigues il y a un grand nombre de femmes passionnées par le football, ce qui n'est pas différent au Manchester Supporter Club sur l'île, beaucoup de membres actifs sont des femmes! Et c'est une bonne chose!

Und ich, ich werde auch da sein, obwohl ich zu meiner Schande gestehen muss, dass ich wegen "Kloppi", Jürgen Klopp, in den letzten Jahren eher mit Liverpool sympathisiert habe..., aber so wie ich die Roten Teufel von Rodrigues bislang kennengelernt habe, glaube ich, dass sie das locker verkraften. Und eines ist jetzt schon sicher, Verein hin oder her, ich finde das, was sie machen, ganz klasse und wer weiß, vielleicht wird ja auch aus mir nochmal ein Roter Teufel...Bis Freitag dann, gestreift oder in rot oder wie auch immer, ganz egal, ab 17 Uhr in der Anse Aux Anglais im Community Centre!

I'll be there too, although I have to admit, to my shame, that I've been more sympathetic to Liverpool in recent years because of "Kloppi", Jürgen Klopp, but as I have got to know the Rodrigues' Red Devils so far, I am convinced that they can handle it easily. And one thing is already certain, despite any club preferences, I think what they do is really great and earns a lot of respect, and who knows, maybe I will become a Red Devil myself one day... Et moi, je serai là aussi, même si je dois admettre, à ma honte, que j'ai été plus sympathique à Liverpool ces dernières années à cause de "Kloppi", Jürgen Klopp ... mais comme je connais les Red Devils de Rodrigues jusqu'à présent, je pense qu'ils peuvent le supporter facilement. Et une chose est déjà certaine, n'importe la préférence d'un club, je pense que ce qu'ils font est vraiment super et qui sait, peut-être un jour, je vais devenir un diable rouge moi-même...

Rendez-vous à tous vendredi à Anse Aux Anglais au Centre Communautaire à partir de 17 heures. BINGO !!!
