Simba's Legacy....A box which is always filled...

Heute ist es 4 Jahre her, dass Simba nicht mehr bei uns ist. Ihre Dose für die "Hundecracker" gibt es aber noch. Auch wenn das Foto darauf etwas blasser geworden ist, die Dose ist in ständigem Gebrauch, immer bis zum Rand aufgefüllt mit Pongos für Miss Molly und all die anderen Hunde der Nachbarschaft...-

Today it is already four years that Simba has left us. However, her box for the dog crackers still exists. The photo showing Simba has become paler but the box is in permanent use, always filled to the brim with Pongos for Miss Molly and all the other dogs of the neighbourhood...

Einen Monat ohne Simba...- Between 2 moons....

Am heutigen Divalitag möchten wir kurz an Simba erinnern, die genau vor 4 Wochen am 30.09.2008 von uns ging, mit 5 einhalb Jahren viel zu früh, und da gesund, völlig überraschend. Es war wie heute um Neumond, am 1. Oktober feierte die moslemische Gemeinde ihr Eid-al-Fitr, das Ende ihres Fastenmonats Ramadan.

Simba war nicht nur der schnellste Hund von Port Mathurin und effektive Bienenfängerin mit einzigartiger Technik, Simba war wohl der einzige Hund mit eigenem Blog, auf ihre Art hat auch sie dazu beigetragen, dass Rodrigues in der Welt etwas bekannter wurde.
Ihren Blog führen wir weiter, sie fehlt uns und wir werden sie und ihr rot-braunes Fell, das in der Sonne leuchtet, nie vergessen. -

On todays' Divali Festival, we would like to go back one month to Simba who left us and this world much too early. She was just 5 and a half years old, in good health, so her death took us completely by surprise. As now it was around new moon, on October1 the muslim community celebrated their Eid-al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan.

Simba was not only the fastest dog in Port Mathurin and most effective when catching bees, Simba was probably the only dog in the world with her own blog, a special contribution to the world of animals, in which she too brought our tiny, remote island of Rodrigues in the Indian Ocean to the world.
We continue with her blog, we miss her and we won't forget her and her beautiful red-brown fur that shined in the sun...

8. März - Jahrestage...

Oh, was ist das? Nichts zum Internationalen Frauentag... oder zu 5 Jahren Zyklon Kalunde, immerhin - wer sich erinnert, für uns begann das lange Warten am 08.03.2003 mit Warnstufe 1...? Vielleicht später, jetzt ist vor allem erstmal Simba-Tag. Wer das ist? Unsere Hündin
natürlich ...

Es ist ihr 5. Geburtstag, zumindest haben wir das mal nach ausgiebigem und 'akkuratem' Rechnen entschieden und sie ist für uns ein ganz wichtiger Bestandteil unseres Insellebens geworden. Sie hat das Haus komplett übernommen und uns im Gegenzug Freude , Haare und spätnächtliche Spaziergänge gebracht, mit ihrem rot-braunen Fell, das in der Sonne leuchtet war sie auch Inspiration zu Geschichten, die eine spezielle Bärlin-Rodrigues Verbindung zum Inhalt haben und die einige neue Freunde aus aller Welt nach Rodrigues brachten, zwar zugegebenermaßen eher virtuell, aber die Freundschaften sind real. Ihr Hühnerjagen und Bienenfangen sind unvergleichlich. Also Simba, alles Gute zum Geburtstag mit vielen Rinderknochen und Pongo...!



Ooops, what's that? March 8 - and nothing about the International women's day or cyclone Kalunde which provided us already on this day five years ago with Warning Class 1 ....? Maybe later , but first of all it's Simba's day! Who the heck is Simba? So for everybody who doesn't know her, see her photo...

It's her 5th birhday, at least we decided it to be after 'accurate' calculating ...And ever since she has been a very strong link to our Rodriguan life, she took over the house completely and vice versa she brought us fun, hairs and night walking , with her red-brown fur which shines in the sun she has been inspiration for lot's of stories featuring a special Bearlin-Rodrigues connection which brought new friends from all over the world to our remote island- O.K. admittedly via the virtual world of the net, but the friends are for real. Her chicken chasing and bee catching are past comparison. So very happy birthday with lots of beef bones and Pongo...!
