Pulled in to Rodrigues for repairs. My forestay snapped 4 days out and my genny got shredded with 35 knot winds and 15 feet seas.

This was Zac's entry on Saturday in Rodrigues' visitor's book of James Waterstone, our local long-time passionate concerning the yachties coming to our island...As James can not come every day to Port Mathurin, we just help him getting his book around and back to him...
So , and today I got it back as Zac brought it to the library on Saturday just before or after winning the jackpot...By the way, don't get wrong ideas about our island, definetely being everything else than sort of Las Vegas like, it is usually very calm and since 2 years only, we have a 'gambling house' with slot machines and a table for roulette...
And here a second closer shot from his stay in Rodrigues, both photos taken by the Tourism Office of Rodrigues, they are really good, although in fact I thought he was a bit paler around his nose when I saw him...These photos are especially for his mom Marianne who asked me for closer ups...but also for the rest of the family and the zac pac, means for everyone caring and supporting that young guy...

vielen Dank für die Bilder von Zac in Eurem Blog. Ich verfolge Zacs blog von San Francisco aus, seit er unterwegs ist. Die Berichte aus einer anderen Sicht bereichern seine Geschichte. Und ich erfahre noch mehr über Rodriguez, wovon ich sonst noch nichts gehört hatte (Reunion und Maurituius waren mir schon ein Begriff). Leider bin ich noch weit entfernt davon, mal selber die Meere zu besegeln, aber ich übe schon mal auf der SF Bay.

Oh, das freut mich aber, ein Kommentar aus meiner amerikanischen Lieblingsstadt...1990 war ich mal dort für 5 Wochen.
Schön, dass dir die Bilder gefallen. Ich selbst segle gar nicht, aber verfolge seit ca. 9 Jahren die Segler,die hier ankommen.Zacs Geschichte passierte in einem Moment, wo ich beginnen wollte, etwas mehr über die Segler der diesjährigen Saison zu schreiben, die ich diesmal fast alle kennengelernt habe.Da ich soviele Fotos gemacht habe und Material gesammelt, ist das Vorhaben ein wenig schwer umzusetzen, da es mehr Zeit benötigt, als wie vorhanden. Aber ich wollte versuchen,alles,was für Segler interessant sein könnte in Rodrigues hier reinzunehmen....Mal sehen, ob das was wird...
Du bist herzlich willkommen, hier immer mal reinzuschauen!
