Um es gleich vorwegzusagen, Dirk und ich sind seit letzter Woche geimpft, am Mittwoch bzw. Donnerstag erhielten wir unsere erste Dosis des Impfstoffs Covishield, ein in Indien hergestellter AstraZeneca Impfstoff, den Mauritius freundlicherweise im Rahmen diplomatischer Geschenke von Indien erhalten hat. -
To say it in advance, Dirk and I have been vaccinated since last week, on Wednesday and Thursday we received our first dose of the Covishield vaccine, an AstraZeneca vaccine made in India, which Mauritius kindly received as part of diplomatic gifts from India.
Pour le dire à l'avance, Dirk et moi sommes vaccinés depuis la semaine dernière, mercredi et jeudi nous avons reçu notre première dose du vaccin Covishield, un vaccin AstraZeneca fabriqué en Inde, que Maurice a aimablement reçu dans le cadre de cadeaux diplomatiques de l'Inde.

Das ist der zur Zeit in Rodrigues und Mauritius verimpfte Stoff. Covishield - AstraZenica produziert in Indien. Die 100 000 Dosen, die in Mauritius am 22.Januar ankamen, waren ein Geschenk der indischen Regierung. 4200 Dosen gingen davon im Februar auf unsere kleine Insel. In jeder Phiole befinden sich 10 Dosen. Um nichts von dem kostbaren Stoff zu verschwenden, wird immer in Gruppen zu zehnt aufgerufen.-
Es ist soweit, Dirk nimmt am Tisch 1 Platz - der 4 seitige Einwilligungsbogen umfasst neben persönlichen Details, Informationen zum Impfrisiko, auch Fragen zur medizinischen Vorgeschichte sowie Nebenwirkungen, die bei Älteren weniger vorzukommen scheinen im Vergleich zu Jüngeren. -

Übrigens, Dirk und ich fühlten uns sehr gut aufgehoben, für uns war klar, dass die Verantwortung für unsere Entscheidung bei uns lag, da die verschiedenen Impfstoffe, die rund um den Globus in so kurzer Zeit entwickelt wurden, überall ja lediglich für den Notfalleinsatz während einer Pandemie zugelassen wurden. Für uns war klar, dass weder die Hersteller noch die Regierungen bei unvorhergesehenen und nachteiligen Auswirkungen zur Rechenschaft gezogen werden wollten und dass man sich auf bisherige Erfahrungen und Studien verlassen musste.Ich persönlich hätte mich noch nicht im Dezember und im Januar impfen lassen, aber nach mehreren Millionen Menschen, die mit AZ weltweit geimpft wurden, konnte ich das Risiko leichter tragen.-

By the way, Dirk and I felt we were in very good hands, it was clear to us that the responsibility for our decision lay with us, since the various vaccines that were developed around the globe in such a short time were only approved for Emergency Use during a pandemic. It was clear to us that neither the manufacturers nor the governments wanted to be held accountable for unforeseen and adverse effects and that one had to rely on previous experience and studies. Personally, I would not have had myself vaccinated in December and January, but after several million people who had been vaccinated with AZ around the world, I was able to take the risk more easily.

Das ist unser Impfausweis, leider ein bißchen sehr dünn das Papier. Es gab auch kartonierte weiße Ausweise, doch leider waren die zuvor ausgegangen, alle Impflinge nach Dirk bekamen die kartonierten Karten....-

Ceci est notre carte de vaccination, malheureusement le papier est un peu très fin. Il y avait aussi des cartes blanches en carton, mais malheureusement, elles étaient épuisées avant nous étions vaccinés, tous ceux vaccinés après que Dirk ont reçu les cartes en carton, délivrées juste ce jour.

Auf diese, für alle Eventualitäten bereitgestellten Liegen, brauchten wir nicht. Uns ging es gut, wie allen anderen auch, die am Mittwoch und dem Donnerstag in der Woche mit uns geimpft wurden. Bevor man gehen kann, sind allerdings mindestens 15 Minuten Ausruhen Pflicht, danach noch ein Gespräch, man bekommt dann seinen Impfausweis mit Termin für die 2. Dosis knapp 7 Wochen. später. In den nächsten 24 Stunden sollen keine Proteine zu sich genommen werden, also kein Fleisch.Für alle Fälle gibt es auch Paracetamol mit, falls es zu Schmerzen und Fieber kommt in den 48 Stunden danach kommt.-
We didn't need to use these loungers, which were provided for all eventualities. We were fine, like everyone else who was vaccinated with us on Wednesday and Thursday of the week. Before you can leave the centre, however, you must rest for at least 15 minutes, then have a conversation, you will then receive your vaccination certificate with an appointment for the 2nd dose for almost 7 weeks later. No proteins should be consumed in the next 24 hours, i.e. no meat. Paracetamol is given just in case if there is pain and fever in the 48 hours afterwards.We did not need it.-
Nous n'avons pas eu besoin d'utiliser ces chaises longues, qui étaient prévues pour toutes sorte d'éventualités. Nous allions bien, comme tout le monde qui a été vacciné avec nous ce mercredi et jeudi de la semaine. Avant de pouvoir partir, cependant, vous devez vous reposer pendant au moins 15 minutes, puis avoir une conversation, vous recevrez alors votre certificat de vaccination avec un rendez-vous pour la 2ème dose pendant près de 7 semaines plus tard. Aucune protéine ne doit être consommée dans les 24 heures suivantes, c'est-à-dire pas de viande. Le paracétamol est également donné au cas où il y aurait douleur et fièvre dans les 48 heures suivantes.Nous n'en avions pas besoin.
Allgemeine und aktualisierte Informationen zur Impfkampagne in Mauritius und Rodrigues:
Die Impfkampagne gegen COVID-19 startete am 26. Januar in Mauritius für die Frontliner, also medizinisches Personal, Polizeikorps, Air Mauritius-Mitarbeiter usw., nachdem die ersten 200 000 Dosen Covishield am 22.Januar im Land angekommen waren, gespendet von Indien. In Rodrigues wurden im Februar die ersten Dosen an medizinisches Personal verabreicht, vorerst wurden unserer Insel 4 200 Dosen zur Verfügung gestellt.
Das Interesse der Bevölkerung war im Allgemeinen langsam und zögerlich, da die schnelle Entwicklung der Impfstoffe gegen COVID-19 vielen Sorgen machte. Normalerweise dauert es mindestens 5 bis 10 Jahre von der Entwicklung eines Impfstoffs bis zur Registrierung der betroffenen Behörden. In diesem Fall wurden frühzeitig Notfall-Genehmigungen erteilt, da die Welt an einer Pandemie leidet. Daß zu Beginn der Impfkampagne auf Mauritius keine lokalen Fälle registriert waren, nur einige importierte, die isoliert waren, trug nicht zur Motivation bei. Als am 5. März in Mauritius die ersten lokalen Fälle von COVID-19 entdeckt wurden, stieg das Interesse an einer Impfung auf beiden Inseln. In der Zwischenzeit wurden auch ältere (60+) und schutzbedürftige Gruppen geimpft. Ziel ist es, mindestens 60% der Bevölkerung impfen zu lassen, um eine kollektive Immunität zu erreichen, die sog. Herdenimmunität.
Eine Lieferung von mehr Covishield wurde bis Mitte März erwartet, wovon 20 000 Dosen für Rodrigues gewesen wären. Derzeit weiß jedoch niemand, wie viele Dosen genau geliefert werden und wann der Impfstoff wirklich eintrifft. Am 19. März erhielt Mauritius eine weitere Ladung von 200.000 Dosen eines anderen in Indien hergestellten Impfstoffs, das COVAXIN, das bei Bharat BioTech hergestellt wurde. Als Mauritius am 10. März in den erneuten Lockdown gehen musste, wurde die Impfkampagne für drei Tage ausgesetzt, um am 15. März wieder aufgenommen zu werden. Bis Freitag, den 19. März, waren die ersten 100 000 Dosen Covishield verimpft, und so beschloss die Regierung, die verbleibenden 100 000 für die zweite Dosis zurückzuhalten. Die Kampagne wurde am 22.März mit dem neu gelieferten COVAXIN fortgesetzt. Während der Pressekonferenz am 22. März kündigte die Regierung an, dass sowohl der chinesische Impfstoff Sinopharm bald ankommen würde, und dass es ein Abkommen für Sputnik V gibt - 1.250.000 Dosen werden von Mauritius gekauft..-
General & updated information about the vaccination campaign in Mauritius and Rodrigues:
The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 started in Mauritius for the frontliners as medical staff, police corps, Air Mauritius employées etc on 26 January after the first 200,000 Covishield had arrived in the country, donated by India. In Rodrigues the first doses to medical staff were administered in February, 4,200 doses were made available for the time being.
The response in general was slow and hesitant due to some uneasiness concerning the fast development of the vaccines against COVID-19 . Usually it takes 5 to 10 years minimum from development to registration of the authorities concerned. In this case Emergency Use approvals were given at an early stage as the world is suffering from a pandemic. As by begin of the vaccination campaign no local cases were registered in Mauritius, only some imported ones who were isolated, the motivation was low too. When the first local cases of COVID-19 were detected on 5 March, the interest in getting vaccinated increased on both islands. In the meantime also the elderly (60+) and vulnerable groups were eligible. Target is to get at least 60% of the population vaccinated to achieve collective immuniy, also known as herd immunity.
A delivery of more Covishield was expected by mid March of which 20,000 doses would have been for Rodrigues. But currently noone knows the exact number of doses and when the vaccine will have arrived. On 19 March Mauritius received another cargo of 200,000 doses of another India produced vaccine, the COVAXIN, manufactured at Bharat BioTech.
When Mauritius had to Lockdown on 10 March, the vaccination campaign was halted to be resumed on 15 March. Until Friday 19 March the first 100,000 doses of Covishield were inoculated and so the government decided to keep the remaining 100,000 for the second shots. The campaign continued by using the newly delivered COVAXIN.
During the press briefing on 22 March the government announced that the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm is going to come, as well as the Sputnik V - 1,250,000 doses will be bought by Mauritius. -

La campagne de vaccination contre le COVID-19 a commencé à Maurice pour les frontliner en tant que personnel médical, corps de police, employés d'Air Mauritius, etc. le 26 janvier après l'arrivée des 200 000 premiers Covishield dans le pays, donnés par l'Inde. A Rodrigues, les premières doses au personnel médical ont été administrées en février, 4200 doses ont été mises à disposition pour le moment.
La réponse en général a été lente et hésitante en raison de l'inquiétude concernant le développement rapide des vaccins contre le COVID-19. Habituellement, il faut au moins 5 à 10 ans entre le développement et l'enregistrement des autorités concernées. Dans ce cas, les approbations d'utilisation d'urgence ont été données à un stade précoce, car le monde souffre d'une pandémie. Comme au début de la campagne de vaccination aucun cas local n'a été enregistré à Maurice, seuls quelques cas importés et ensuite isolés, la motivation était également faible. Lorsque les premiers cas locaux de COVID-19 ont été détectés le 5 mars, l'intérêt de se faire vacciner s'est accru sur les deux îles. Entretemps, les personnes âgées (60 ans et plus) et les groupes vulnérables étaient également éligibles pour le vaccin. L'objectif est de faire vacciner au moins 60% de la population pour obtenir une immunité collective.
Une livraison de plus de Covishield était attendue d'ici la mi-mars, dont 20 000 doses auraient été pour Rodrigues. Mais actuellement, personne ne connaît le nombre exact de doses et la date à laquelle le vaccin sera arrivé. Le 19 mars, Maurice a reçu une autre cargaison de 200 000 doses d'un autre vaccin produit en Inde, le COVAXIN, fabriqué à Bharat BioTech. Lorsque Maurice a dû fermer ses portes le 10 mars, la campagne de vaccination a été interrompue pendant quelques jours pour reprendre le 15 mars. Jusqu'au vendredi 19 mars, les 100 000 premières doses de Covishield ont été inoculées et le gouvernement a donc décidé de conserver les 100 000 autres pour les deuxièmes injections. La campagne s'est poursuivie en utilisant le COVAXIN à partir du 22 mars. Lors de la conférence de presse du même jour, le gouvernement a annoncé que le vaccin chinois Sinopharm allait venir, ainsi que le Spoutnik V - 1 250 000 doses seront achetées par le gouvernement.
