Mauritius Pride...Bye-Bye!

"Aout 1990 - Le Mauritius Pride mouille a Port Mathurin.

This is a photo of Mauritius Pride, taken on her first arrival end of  August 1990 in Rodrigues to take up her work as cargo- and passenger vessel between Mauritius and Rodrigues, later also between Mauritius and Madagascar and Agalega. Finally this has now come to an end. She was sold in the beginning of this year and is already missed by many Rodriguans who are forced to take now the more expensive flights, not to mention the luggage restrictions, when they want to travel between Rodrigues and  Mauritius.Whereas the Mauritius Pride offered 9 double berth cabins and 248 aircraft type seats, Mauritius Trochetia sells only appr. 30 double berth cabins
(maximal capacity 116 passengers). Until now there is no substitute vessel in view and with one vessel less, Mauritius Trochetia has difficulties to deliver cargo on time, much to the despair of traders and hotels.
