Mauritius Meteorological Services, Cyclone Gélane & Rodrigues on Cyclone Warning Class 1

For a couple of days the Mauritius Meteorological Services has not been accessible on the Internet, they have upgraded their site and the result can be seen here...

The new face comes with also some new links, already adjusted to on our wall...

Major change: there isn't any longer a seperate bulletin for Rodrigues, just one Forecast Bulletin page on which you can either click Mauritius, Rodrigues or Agalega. No changes here concerning the language, still a French version for the Rodrigues' forecast, only the Mauritian forecast is available in English...

New the column Outer Islands Forecast, this comes with a quick information about Agalega, St.Brandon and Rodrigues, indicating briefly weather (by icon), wind speed and sea condition (marked in English). Generally the new face gives a much better overview about the different features, but additional links concerning cyclone developments or more wind speed details are still lacking.

While working on this posting, a cyclone is approaching Rodrigues. Since 11 o'clock local time we are on alert 1, the state of preliminary precautions. Although the trajectory does not preview a direct hit, we have to prepare for more wind and rain, cyclone Gélane will be at its nearest point to Rodrigues by tomorrow evening, if maintaining the speed and the trajectory... So we are checking regularly other web sites in addition, all to be found on our wall in the weather link department...))
