Bernd...eine Zäsur - A Turning Point - Une Césure

Es ist Mittwoch, der 18. März 2020. Das ist unser Freund Bernd aus Deutschland. Gerade angekommen in Rodrigues. War es zum 8. oder 9. Mal? Wie auch immer, er kommt uns immer gerne besuchen, bereitet das immer lange vorher vor, bringt uns viele Sachen mit, die hier schwer oder gar nicht erhältlich sind. Er bleibt arbeitsbedingt in der Regel um die 14 Tage, was ja für so einen Langstreckenurlaub an sich kurz ist. Dieser Urlaub sollte anders und obendrein noch kürzer werden.-

It is Wednesday, March 18. This is our friend Bernd from Germany. Just arrived in Rodrigues. Was it for the 8th or the 9th time? Nous sommes le mercredi 18 mars 2020. Voici notre ami Bernd d'Allemagne. Juste arrivé à Rodrigues. C'était pour la 8e ou la 9e fois? Cependant, il aime toujours nous rendre visite, il prépare ses vacances toujours bien à l'avance, il nous apporte aussi beaucoup de choses, difficiles ou non disponibles ici. Il reste généralement environ 14 jours en raison de son travail, ce qui est court pour une voyage aussi longues. Cette fois-ci ses vacances devraient être différentes et plus courtes.

März 2020, erweitert Mauritius die Reisebeschränkungen für ausländische Passagiere, die aus Ländern der Europäischen Union, einschließlich des Vereinigten Königreichs und der Schweiz kommen oder in den letzten 14 Tagen im Transit waren, um zwei Wochen. Ab heute 20 00 GMT dürfen alle ausländischen Passagiere, die von Reunion Island kommen oder im Transit waren, in den nächsten zwei Wochen nicht mehr nach Mauritius einreisen. Mauritians coming from these countries, they will be automatically placed in quarantine for a period of two weeks.These preventive measures have been announced, this morning, at a press conference by the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, in Port Louis, following a high-level committee on Covid-19. As a date there is no case of Covid-19 in Mauritius."-

Während Herr Jugnauth die Pressekonferenz gibt, ist Bernd auf seinem Weg zum Flughafen Tegel, wo er mit Air France nach Paris gebucht ist. Ich bin bei CareCo und weiß von der neuen Lage noch nichts. Noch in der Nacht hatte Bernd uns angerufen, um zu fragen, wie unsere Einschätzung der Situation ist, die schnell ansteigenden Zahlen an Covid-19 Infektionen gerade auch in Deutschland hatten ihn verunsichert. Am 15. März zählte Deutschland bereits 4838 Fälle.Zu diesem Zeitpunkt gab es in unserer Region aber nur in Réunion 7 registrierte Fälle, trotz mulmiger Gefühle rechneten wir für Mauritius nicht wirklich mit gallopierenden Ereignissen, vor allem, wenn man bedenkt, dass Mauritius noch in der Hochsaison war. Grenzschließungen hielten wir für nicht  ausgeschlossen, aber ad hoc Entscheidungen der Regierung waren bei sovielen Touristen im Land und der wirtschaftlichen  Bedeutung des Tourismus für Mauritius nicht wirklich vorstellbar. Dennoch, das Risiko sich während der Reise zu infizieren existierte und wir hätten verstehen können, wenn er sich gegen den Flug entschieden hätte. Gegen 12 Uhr mittags ein Anruf, dass er in Tegel steht und kommen wird. Meine Freude währt kurz, denn während meiner Pause und während Bernd bereits in der Luft ist, erfahre ich von der Pressekonferenz. Als Bernd beim Einchecken in Paris ist, erreiche ich ihn endlich am Telefon, ich informiere ihn über die neue Situation und bitte ihn, wieder nach Berlin zurückzufliegen, denn ich befürchte, dass er einfach nicht wieder zurück kommt. Ich spreche mit Mitarbeitern vom Air Mauritius Bodenpersonal, schicke ihnen den Link zur Pressekonferenz, dort wird Bernd aber beruhigt, nach dem Motto, für ihn gelte die Quarantäneanordnung ja nicht, da er schon am 17. in Mauritius ankommen würde. Meine Frage nach der Rückflugsicherheit für Bernd wird ignoriert. Sein Gepäck hatte Bernd schon in Berlin  aufgegeben, was letztlich den Ausschlag gibt. Es  geht also weiter nach Mauritius.-

While Mr. Jugnauth holds the press conference, Bernd is on his way to Tegel Airport, where he is booked with Air France to Paris. I'm at CareCo and I don't know anything about the new situation. That night Bernd had called us to ask what our assessment of the situation was, the rapidly increasing numbers of Covid-19 infections, especially in Germany, had unsettled him. Pendant que M. Jugnauth donne sa conférence de presse, Bernd est en route pour l'aéroport de Tegel, où il est réservé avec Air France à Paris. Je suis chez CareCo et je ne sais rien de la nouvelle situation. Cette nuit-là, Bernd nous avait appelés pour nous demander quelle était notre évaluation de la situation car le nombre en croissance rapide des infections à Covid-19, en particulier en Allemagne, l'avait perturbé. L'Allemagne avait 4838 cas le 15 mars, mais à cette époque dans notre région il n'y avait que 7 cas enregistrés à La Réunion, malgré quelques sentiments d'inquiètude nous ne nous attendions pas vraiment à des événements de galop pour Maurice, d'autant plus que Maurice était toujours en haute saison. Nous ne pensions pas que la fermeture des frontières était impossible, mais les décisions gouvernementales ad hoc n'étaient pas vraiment envisageables pour tant de touristes encore dans le pays et de l'importance économique du tourisme pour Maurice. Pourtant, il y avait un risque d'infection pendant le voyage et nous aurions pu comprendre s'il avait décidé de ne pas prendre l'avion. Vers midi lundi, un appel de lui de l'aéroport de Tegel, il viendra. Ma joie reste courte, car pendant ma pause et alors que Bernd est déjà dans les airs, j'apprends de la conférence de presse. Chez Air Mauritius à Port Mathurin il y a des queues des touristes en train de changer leurs dates de départ, pour les touristes réunionnais c'est un coup dure et inattendu, ils veulent quitter Rodrigues au plus tôt possible. Le personnel parle de fermetures d'aéroport possibles. Quand Bernd fait son check-in à Paris le soir, je le rejoint enfin par téléphone, je l'informe de la nouvelle situation et je lui demande de rentrer à Berlin, car je crains qu'il ne puisse tout simplement pas retourner en Allemagne une fois arrivé ici. Je parle au personnel au sol d'Air Mauritius, je leur envoie le Internet lien sur la conférence de presse, mais on rassure Bernd, l'arrangement de quarantaine ne s'appliquerait pas à lui, car il arriverait à Maurice le 17. Ma question concernant la sécurité du vol de retour pour Bernd est ignorée. Bernd avait déjà enregistré ses bagages à Berlin, donc sa décision tombe pour continuer son voyage à Maurice.

Bevor Bernd auf Rodrigues landet, gibt es aber erst noch einen anderen Besucher, Herold. Bernds Flug aus Paris hatte Verspätung, sein Anschlussflug nach Rodrigues für den 17. ist verpasst, weitere Flüge am Tag werden wegen des auf Rodrigues zusteuernden Zyklons gecancelt und Air Mauritius bringt ihn für eine Nacht in Mauritius unter. Ich hatte das sicherheitshalber auch schon anorganisiert, war dann ganz froh, dass die Unterbringung auch ohne mein Zutun so reibungslos klappte. Tagsüber wird bis zur Warnstufe 3 um 13 Uhr erst CareCo zyklonsicher gemacht, dann sind wir zu Hause an der Reihe. Für Bernd ist es der erste verlorene Tag seines Urlaubs, für uns eine kleine Atempause der Überlegungen, was ist, wenn die Flughäfen wegen Corona zumachen, während er hier ist.Warnstufe 4 erst nach 22 Uhr, wie immer fällt der Strom aus, aber ansonsten ist Herold keine Konkurrenz zu der Aufregung um Corona.-

Before Bernd arrives in Rodrigues, there is another visitor to come, Herold. Avant l'arrivée de Bernd à Rodrigues, il y a un autre visiteur, Herold. Le vol de Bernd en provenance de Paris a été retardé, son vol de correspondance pour Rodrigues pour le 17 dans la matinée en conséquence raté, d'autres vols à Rodrigues pendant la journée ont été annulé en raison du cyclone se dirigeant vers notre île, donc Air Mauritius l'a hébergé pour une nuit à Maurice. Par mesure de précaution, j'avais déjà organisé cela aussi, mais je me sentais soulagé que ma contribution n'ait pas été nécessaire.Pendant la journée, jusqu'en Alerte Class 3 à 13 h, on prépare CareCo contre le cyclone, puis c'est notre tour à la maison. Pour Bernd, c'est la première journée perdue de ses vacances, pour nous un moment de détente concernant les reflexions au sujet des fermetures des aéroports à cause de Corona pendant Bernd est ici.L'avertissement Class 4 seulement après 22 heures, comme toujours, le courant s'en va, mais sinon Herold n'est pas une concurrence en termes de perturbation par rapport à Corona.

 Birgit into voluntary Home Office - a first in Rodrigues?

 

Mittwoch früh wird bei CareCo aufgeräumt und Schadensbegrenzung gibt es auch auf einer anderen Ebene. Um die Arbeiter und Kunden bei CareCo nicht zu gefährden, sollte Bernd das Virus doch mitbringen, würde ich für 2 Wochen ins Home Office gehen und alle anstehenden Arbeiten von zu Hause aus koordinieren. Die Tatsache, dass Bernd wegen anderthalb Tagen nicht unter die Quarantäneanordnung fällt, ist glücklich für ihn und uns, aber kein pures Glück, wer anderthalb Tage später den Virus potentiell mitbringen kann, kann dies auch schon jetzt. Der logische Menschenverstand sagt, dass das Einreiseverbot für EU Länder zum gleichen Zeitraum wie für Reunion hätte ausgesprochen werden müssen, um Mauritius nicht ernsthaft zu gefährden, abgesehen davon, gehen wir aufgrund der Entwicklung in Europa mittlerweile davon aus, dass das Virus sicherlich schon vorher mit eingereist ist. Auch wenn es mir schwer fällt, nicht zur Arbeit zu gehen, kann ich es auch als eine Auszeit mit mehr Zeit für Bernd und Dirk begreifen und dem Ganzen etwas abgewinnen, zumal unsere Kundschaft schon jetzt wegbricht und damit ein Teil der Arbeit, manche Besucher aus Reunion und Frankreich kommen noch vorbei, aber nur um sich zu verabschieden und zu erzählen, dass sie vorzeitig in die Heimat zurückfliegen.-

On Wednesday morning CareCo cleans up, and there is limitation too concerning another level of damage. Mercredi matin c'est le grand nettoyage chez CareCo, et la limitation des dommages se passe également sur un autre niveau. Afin de ne pas mettre en danger nos travailleurs et nos clients de CareCo, si Bernd apporterait le virus avec lui, j'irais en Home Office pendant 2 semaines et coordonnerais tous les travaux à venir depuis la maison. Le fait que Bernd ne tombe pas sous l'ordonnance de quarantaine en raison d'une petite journée et demie est heureux pour lui et pour nous, mais pas la chance pure, car, qui peut apporter le virus un jour et demi plus tard peut le faire aussi déjà maintenant. Le bon sens logique dit que l'interdiction d'entrée pour les pays de l'UE aurait dû être émise en même temps que pour la Réunion, afin de ne pas mettre sérieusement en danger Maurice, à part cela, nous supposons qu'en raison du développement en Europe, que le virus serait déjà entré. Même s'il m'est difficile de ne pas aller au travail, je peux aussi voir l'arrangement comme une pause avec plus de temps pour Bernd et Dirk en gagnant quelque chose de l'ensemble, d'autant plus car le travail se diminue, on est en train de perdre notre clientèle déjà. Certains visiteurs réunionnais et français viennent encore, mais juste pour dire adieu car ils rentrent chez eux tôt.

Etwas hektisch arbeite ich mich durch einen langen Tag, versuche die wichtigsten Einkäufe alle im Vorfeld zu erledigen, ergatter bei SuperCash eine Flasche Desinfektionslösung, bevorrate mich mit ein paar unserer Einwegmasken und Handschuhen, man kann ja nie wissen... In der Pharmazie gibt es noch keine Masken zu kaufen.Gegen 19.30 Uhr dann nach Hause und - mit etwas Abstand - Bernd begrüßen. Die Wiedersehensfreude ist groß, wird aber am gleichen Abend noch gedämpft  durch die Ankündigung der ersten 3 registrierten Covid-19 Fälle in Mauritius sowie der Schließung des Landes für Einreisende am nächsten Tag ab 10 Uhr morgens, nur Mauritier dürfen ins Land bei obligatorischer 2 Wochen Quarantäne. Wir versuchen entspannt zu bleiben. - 

A little hectically I work myself through a long day, try to do all the most important purchases in advance, get a bottle of disinfectant solution at SuperCash, store up with a few of our disposable masks and gloves, you never know ...No masks available at that time in our pharmacy, then back at home at 7.30 p.m. and welcome Bernd - by keeping some distance.The reunion is great, but is dampened quickly by the late evening TV announcement of the first 3 registered Covid-19 cases in Mauritius and the closure of the country for all who want to enter, only arriving Mauritians will be allowed in with compulsory 2 weeks quarantine. We try to stay relaxed.-

Pendant une longue journée de travail un peu agité, j'essaie aussi de faire tous les achats les plus importants à l'avance, je prends une bouteille de solution désinfectante chez SuperCash, je me stocke avec quelques-uns de nos masques et gants jetables industriels, on ne sait jamais ... En pharmacie il n'y a pas encore de masques à acheter, puis enfin vers 19h30 je rentre à la maison pour saluer Bernd. Les retrouvailles sont formidables, mais sont atténuées lors de l'actualité par l'annonce des 3 premiers cas de Covid-19 enregistrés à Maurice et la fermeture de l'aéroport intenetional, que des Mauriciens seront acceptés avec une quarantaine de 2 semaines obligatoires. Nous essayons de rester détendus.

Doch auch in Rodrigues wird man langsam nervös, am Morgen des 19., meinem ersten Tag im Home Office, gehen Gerüchte um, dass ein Tourist aus Réunion in einem Guesthouse mit Fieber ins Krankenhaus gekommen sei. Von offizieller Seite gibt es schnell eine Entwarnung, es sei nur Grippe gewesen und die betroffene Person schon in Mauritius. Diese schnelle Diagnosestellung überrascht mich etwas, ich fragte einen Arzt, ob es denn in Rodrigues überhaupt Testkits gäbe und die Tests hier durchgeführt werden können. Dies wurde mir bejaht, eine große Lieferung an Testkits sei zudem auf dem Weg und klar, könne man dies hier machen. Richtig beruhigt bin ich nicht, es wäre das erste Mal in 23 Jahren, dass Rodrigues so schnell und effektiv reagieren kann. 

Am Abend dann die Ankündigung des Premierministers weiterer 4 Infektionsfälle und die Anordnung einer sanitären Ausgangssperre für die kommenden 14 Tage ab Mitternacht. Während ich selbstverständlich davon ausgehe, dass Rodrigues mitgemeint ist, gibt es adminstrativ eine große Konfusion, da der Premierminister Rodrigues nicht explizit genannt hat und die Regional Assembly in Rodrigues offenbar nicht schriftlich informiert wurde über die Maßnahme. Der Island Chief Executive gibt Freitag früh über das Radio bekannt, dass die Ausgangssperre nur für Mauritius gilt. Tag 2 meines Home Office, telefonieren, telefonieren und nochmals telefonieren. Ich checke facebook, sämtliche Tageszeitungen und gegen Mittag ist es dann offiziell, dass ich wohl mit meinem Home Office der Allgemeinheit nur um einen Tag voraus war. -

While I and many others assumed that Rodrigues was meant all the same, an administrative confusion was created in the early Friday morning, when our Island Chief Executive announced on the radio that the confinement was limited to Mauritius only.The Prime Minister had not explicitly mentioned Rodrigues during his announcement and obviously no circular about the measure was received by the Regional Assembly at that stage.  Day 2 of my Home Office: phone calls, phone calls and phone calls again. I check facebook, all daily newspapers and before noon it is official that I was probably only one day ahead of the general public with my Home Office.-

Mais Rodrigues aussi devient nerveux, le matin du 19, mon premier jour au bureau à domicile, il y a des rumeurs selon lesquelles un touriste réunionnais soit venu à l'hôpital avec de la fièvre dans une maison d'hôtes. Du côté officiel, tout est clair, ce n'était que la grippe et la personne concernée serait déjà à Maurice. Ce diagnostic rapide m'a surpris un peu: j'ai demandé à un médecin s'il y avait des kits de test à Rodrigues et si les tests pouvaient être effectués ici. On m'a affirmé qu'une grande livraison de kits de test était attendu et il me confirme que cela pouvait être fait ici. Je ne suis pas vraiment rassuré, ce serait la première fois en 23 ans que Rodrigues pourrait réagir aussi rapidement et efficacement. 

Dans la soirée, le Premier ministre a annoncé 4 autres cas d'infection et a ordonné un couvre-feu sanitaire pour les 14 prochains jours à partir de minuit. Bien que moi et d'autres supposent que Rodrigues serait concerné aussi, il y a une confusion administrative car le Premier ministre n'a pas explicitement mentionné Rodrigues et l'Assemblée régionale de Rodrigues n'a pas été informée par écrit de la mesure. Le chef de la direction de l'île a annoncé vendredi matin à la radio que le confinement ne concernait que Maurice. Jour 2 de mon bureau à domicile, passer des appels, passer des appels et encore une fois passer des appelles. Je vérifie Facebook, tous les journaux quotidiens et avant midi, il est officiel que je n'avais probablement qu'un jour d'avance sur le grand public avec mon bureau à domicile.-

Am Morgen des 20.März als in Rodrigues noch niemand wusste ob wir auch unter die Ausgangsbeschränkungen fallen - erste Straßenverkäufer versuchen das Desinfektionsmittel Javel zu verkaufen.Hand Sanitizers gibt es noch nicht auf der Insel.-

In the morning of Friday, March 20, when in Rodrigues noone knew if we were confined too or not, the first timid sales of Javel desinfectant as reaction on the first cases in MRU...Hand Sanitizers were not yet to have in Rodrigues.-

Quand personne ne savait pas si on était confiné ou non à Rodrigues - des premières ventes timides des desinfectants Javel se produisent dans la rue. Hand Sanitizers n'étaient pas encore existant sur l'île.

Freitag gehe ich gleich noch zu Air Mauritius um zu erfragen, was die nächsten Schritte für Bernd sind und wann Flieger nach Mauritius bzw. nach Europa gehen.Im Vorabendkommuniqué hieß es, der letzte Flug nach Paris ginge am 28.03.von Mauritius, Rodriguesflüge noch immer operativ. Das wäre ja dann immerhin noch eine Woche hier für Bernd..!-

On Friday I am also going to the local office of Air Mauritius to find out about the next steps and operational flights to Mauritius and Europe for Bernd. The Air Mauritius Communiqué of the evening before mentioned a last flight to Paris on 28 March with Rodrigues flights still operational. That would still be another week here for Bernd ..!

Vendredi, je me rends aussi à Air Mauritius pour savoir quelles sont les prochaines étapes pour Bernd et quand il y a des avions à Maurice et en Europe. Dans le Communiqué de Air Mauritius la veille,  un dernier vol pour Paris le 28 mars était mentionné, des vols de Rorigues encore opérationnels. Donc ce serait une semaine encore ici pour Bernd ..!

Doch die Rodrigues Regional Assembly schläft nicht, unser Chefkommissar bittet den Premierminister, den Flughafen auch in Plaine Corail zu schließen.Am Samstag den 21. hat das Air Mauritius Office geschlossen, ein Anruf ergibt, dass Bernd unbedingt am Samstag oder Sonntag hier raus muss, es gibt nur noch 4 Flüge, danach ist Schluss.Am Abend wird der erste Todesfall gemeldet.-

 

But the Rodrigues Regional Assembly is not sleeping, our Chief Commissioner had asked the Prime Minister to close the airport in Plaine Corail as well.Saturday the office of Air Mauritius is closed, a call confirms that Bernd must leave either on Saturday or on Sunday on one of the last remaining 4 flights to leave our island, then everybody would be stuck.In the evening the first death is announced.-

Mais l'Assemblée Régionale de Rodrigues ne dort pas, notre Chef Commissaire a demandé au Premier ministre de fermer également l'aéroport de Plaine Corail. Le samedi 21, le bureau d'Air Mauritius a fermé, un appel montre que Bernd doit sortir d'ici samedi ou dimanche, il ne reste que 4 vols pour quitter notre île, après il serait bloqué ici.Dans la soirée le premier cas de décès est signalé.

Die ersten Rodriguesankömmlinge am Samstag wurden gleich in die mittlerweile doch 5 Quarantänezentren verteilt, hier das Hotel Le Flamboyant ganz bei uns in der Nähe. Samstag hatte der Markt noch auf, Sonntag hatten alle Geschäfte geschlossen inkl. der Bäckerei. So gab es noch nicht einmal frisches Baguette für Bernd zu seiner Abreise.-

The first Rodrigues arrivals on Saturday were distributed straight away to the 5 quarantine centers, here the Hotel Le Flamboyant nearby. The market was still open on Saturday, all shops, including the bakery, were closed on Sunday. So there was not even fresh baguette for Bernd on his departure day.-

Les premiers arrivants de Rodrigues samedi ont été distribués directement dans les 5 centres de quarantaine, ici l'hôtel Le Flamboyant à proximité. Le marché était encore ouvert samedi et tous les magasins, y compris la boulangerie, étaient fermés dimanche. Il n'y avait donc même pas de baguette fraîche pour Bernd le matin de son départ.

Am Flughafen trifft Bernd noch einen Franzosen, der auch mit ihm angekommen war. Er hatte noch keinen Paris-Flug zurück. Bernd hatte Glück im Unglück, sein Reisebüro in Deutschland hatte es am Samstag noch geschafft seinen Flug umzubuchen auf Montag abend den 23., für eine Nacht hatten wir noch eine Unterkunft in Mauritius gefunden, manche Anlagen hatten bereits geschlossen. Der Eintrag in die Rückholliste des deutschen Auswärtigen Amtes war damit nicht mehr von Bedeutung.- 

At the airport, Bernd meets another Frenchman who also arrived with him. He hasn't got a flight back to Paris yet. Bernd was lucky, on Saturday his travel agency in Germany had managed to rebook his flight to Monday evening the 23rd. For one night we had found an accommodation in Mauritius, not too easy as some facilities had already closed. The entry for repatriation by the German Foreign Office was therefore no longer of importance.-

À l'aéroport, Bernd rencontre un autre Français qui était également arrivé avec lui. Il n'a pas encore un vol de retour à Paris. Bernd a eu de la chance dans le malheur, samedi son agence de voyage en Allemagne a quand même réussi à changer son vol sur lundi soir le 23, pour une nuit nous avions trouvé un logement à Maurice, pas trop facile car certains structures d'accomodation étaient déjà fermées. L'entrée dans la liste pour un repatriment éventuel par le Ministère allemand des Affaires étrangères n'avait plus d'importance.

Dann hieß es Abschiednehmen nach nur 4 Tagen.Durch die Entwicklung von Grenzschließungen auch in Europa kam Bernd erst am folgenden Mittwoch Abend in Berlin an. Sein Anschlussflug von Paris nach Berlin wurde gecancelt. Was blieb war der Zug.   -

Then it was time to say goodbye after only 4 days. Due to the development of border closures in Europe, Bernd did not arrive in Berlin until the following Wednesday evening. His connecting flight from Paris to Berlin was canceled. What was left was the train.-

Ensuite, il était temps de dire au revoir après seulement 4 jours. En raison du développement des fermetures de frontières en Europe, Bernd n'est arrivé à Berlin que le mercredi soir suivant. Son vol de correspondance de Paris à Berlin a été annulé. Il ne restait que le train. -

Die Aufregung ist aber noch nicht ganz vorbei. Am späten Nachmittag während des täglichen Pressebriefings im Fernsehen, gibt es einen Aufruf an alle Passagiere, die u.a. am 17. März mit der MK 015 aus Paris angekommen waren. Auf diesem Flug hat es einen nachgewiesenen Fall von Covid-19 gegeben bei einer Frau, die im Transit nach Madagaskar war. Man ruft dazu auf, sich zu melden, sich zu isolieren und soziale Kontakte zu meiden. Zehn Minuten später werden wir vom Senior Health Office in Rodrigues angerufen, man würde gleich vorbeikommen, wir hätten ja einen ausländischen Besucher bei uns. Dirk und ich bereiten uns innerlich darauf vor, getestet zu werden und in Isolation zu bleiben. Doch ein heftiger Regenschauer und die Erkenntnis, dass unser Besucher schon nicht mehr in Rodrigues ist, führt dazu, dass es zu dem Besuch gar nicht erst kommt...Erst später stellt sich heraus, dass es sich tatsächlich um den Flug am 18. handelte, nicht um den Flug von Bernd. Wie auch immer, wir verhalten uns in der daruffolgenden Zeit weiterhin, als ob wir bereits in Kontakt mit jemand Infiziertem waren. Was aber, wenn andere dies nicht tun? Was, wenn Bernd und andere sich tatsächlich angesteckt hätten bei diesem Flug? Was ist mit den Passagieren, die noch immer in Mauritius sind und auf ihren Rückflug warten und dementsprechend soziale Kontakte haben? So gut gemeint, dieses Contact Tracing war, seine Durchführung hinterlässt eher offene Fragen und Verunsicherung statt eines Gefühls von Kontrolle in Bezug auf die Eindämmung von Ansteckungsketten. -

But the excitement is not over yet. In the late afternoon during the daily press briefing on television, there is a call to all passengers who, among others, arrived on March 17 with MK 015 from Paris. In Madagascar a woman was tested positive of Covid-19 upon arrival who was on this flight being in transit in Mauritius. Passengers are asked to phone the Ministry of Health, isolate themselves and avoid social contacts. Ten minutes later we are called by the Senior Health Office in Rodrigues, they would come over immediately, as a foreign visitor was staying at our place. Dirk and I prepare ourselves mentally to be tested and to stay in isolation. However, a heavy rain shower and the realization that our visitor is no longer in Rodrigues leads to a sudden mind change, no visit it is ... Only later it turns out that it was actually the flight on the 18th , not Bernd’s flight. However, we continue to behave as if we were already in contact with someone who has been infected. But what if others don't? What if Bernd and others had actually infected themselves on this flight? What about the passengers who are still in Mauritius, waiting for their return flights and therefore having social contacts? As well meant as this contact tracing was, its implementation leaves rather open questions and uncertainty than a sense of control over the containment of contagion chains.-

Mais l'excitation n'est pas encore terminée. En fin d'après-midi, lors du point de presse quotidien à la télévision, il y a un appel à tous les passagers qui, entre autres, arrivé le 17 mars avec le MK 015 de Paris. Il y avait un cas registré de Covid-19 sur ce vol chez une femme qui était en transit vers Madagascar. Les passagers sont appelés à signaler, à s'isoler et à éviter des contacts sociaux. Dix minutes plus tard, nous sommes appelés par l'Office de la Santé à Rodrigues, on nous annonce une visite immédiate, car nous avions un visiteur étranger chez nous. Dirk et moi nous préparons mentallemnet à être testés et à rester isolés. Mais une forte averse et la réalisation du fait que notre visiteur n'est plus à Rodrigues signifie que la visite n'a même pas lieu ... Ce n'est que plus tard qu'il s'avère que c'était bien le vol du 18, pas le vol de Bernd. Cependant, nous continuons de nous comporter comme si nous étions déjà en contact avec une personne infectée. Et si les autres ne le font pas? Et si Bernd et d'autres s'étaient effectivement infectés pendant ce vol? Qu'en est-il avec des passagers qui sont toujours à Maurice ou en attendant leur vol de retour et qui ont donc des contacts sociaux? Aussi bien intentionnée que soit cette recherche de contacts, sa mise en œuvre laisse des questions ouvertes et de l'incertitude plutôt qu'un sentiment de contrôle sur le confinement des chaînes de contagion.

Diese Pressekonferenz ist historisch, denn nachdem auch ein 2.Patient verstirbt, wird für den nächsten Tag, Bernds Abreisetag, der Lockdown ab 20 Uhr angekündigt. Da ist Bernd dann glücklicherweise schon am Flughafen...!-

Anfang März flog ich noch für eine Woche nach Mauritius, Anträge mussten gestellt werden und zum Zahnarzt musste ich auch. Wie sich nur wenig später herausstellen sollte, war dies eine gute Entscheidung, denn noch nicht einmal zwei Wochen nach meiner Rückkehr, ging nichts mehr. Ich hatte an sich angenommen, an beiden Flughäfen auf meine Temperatur gescreent zu werden, doch alles war wie immer, trotz der im Februar erweiterten Maßnahmen in Bezug auf Einreisende aus Covid 19 Ländern und den ersten Berichten über Quarantänezentren in Mauritius. Selbst bei meiner Abreise am 7. März wurde am Flughafen in Mauritius keine Temperatur gemessen, doch Überraschung, Überraschung, bei Ankunft in Plaine Corail in Rodrigues gab es zum ersten Mal diese Kontrolle. Auch ein Arzt stand bereit für alle Eventualitäten. Rodrigues hatte mittlerweile auch erste Unterkünfte identifiziert, sollte eine Quarantäne nötig sein.-

At the beginning of March I flew to Mauritius for a week, applications had to be submitted and I also had to go to the dentist. As it turned out a little later, this was a good decision, because not even two weeks after my return, nothing was as before. I had assumed to be screened for my temperature at both airports, but everything was as usual, despite the measures taken in February for Covid 19 countries and the first reports of quarantine centers in Mauritius. Even when I left on March 7, no temperature was measured at the airport in Mauritius, but surprise, surprise, when I arrived at Plaine Corail in Rodrigues, there was body temperature check for the first time. A doctor was also available for all eventualities. Rodrigues had meanwhile also identified the first accommodations transformed to centres, should a quarantine be necessary.-

Début mars, j'ai pris l'avion pour aller à Maurice pour une semaine, des demandes ont dû être faites et j'ai également dû me rendre chez le dentiste. Comme il s'est avéré un peu plus tard, c'était une bonne décision, car même pas deux semaines après mon retour, rien n'allait plus. J'avais supposé que je serais contrôlé pour ma température dans les deux aéroports, mais tout était comme d'habitude, malgré les mesures prises en février pour faire face aux entrées de Covid 19 pays et les premiers rapports des centres de quarantaine à Maurice. Même au départ le 7 mars de Maurice, aucune température n'a été mesurée à l'aéroport SSR, mais surprise, surprise, à l'arrivée à Plaine Corail à Rodrigues, il y a eu ce contrôle pour la première fois. Un médecin était également disponible pour toutes les éventualités. Rodrigues avait quant à elle également identifié les premiers centres, si une quarantaine s'avérait nécessaire.

Es war eine Woche mit viel Rennerei, ich war oft in Port Louis, wo das Leben seinen üblichen Gang nahm, überfüllte Busse wie immer an der Tagesordnung, genauso wie eine Bauaktivität, die die Busse oft für lange Zeit zum Stoppen brachten. Manchmal ging mir durch den Kopf, was wäre, wenn der Virus schon hier wäre, die Bilder aus China und Italien immer ein wenig präsent. Ich traute dieser Ruhe nicht, auch wenn ich versuchte, Menschenmengen zu vermeiden, social distancing in Mauritius war zu diesem Zeitpunkt eher eine Unmöglichkeit. Niemand schien sich darüber Sorgen zu machen oder Vorkehrungen zu treffen.-

It was a busy week, I was often in Port Louis, where life took its usual course, crowded buses were the order of the day as always, as were the construction activities that often stopped the buses for a long time. Sometimes it occurred to me, what if the virus was already here, the pictures from China and Italy always a little present in my mind. I didn't trust this calm, even if I tried to avoid crowds, social distancing in Mauritius was more of an impossibility at that time. And noone seemed to care or to take precautional measures.-

C'était une semaine bien chargée, j'étais souvent à Port Louis, où la vie reprenait son cours habituel, les bus bondés étaient à l'ordre du jour comme d'habitude, tout comme une activité de construction qui arrêtait souvent les bus pendant longtemps. Parfois, il m'est venu à l'esprit, et si le virus était déjà là, les images de Chine et d'Italie toujours un peu présentes. Je ne faisais pas confiance à ce calme, même si j'essayais d'éviter les foules, la distanciation sociale à Maurice était plus une impossibilité à cet époque. Personne ne semblait inquiet ni ne prenait de précautions.

Dezember freigegeben worden, als ich wieder mal in einem Stau steckenblieb, nahm ich kurzerhand die Gelegenheit beim Schopf und beendete meinen Weg von Rose Hill nach Port Louis mit der neuen Bahn, eine Premiere für mich. Rs 30 für ein Ticket fand ich angemessen und als ich knapp 18 Minuten später in Port Louis aus dem Zug stieg, war ich zum ersten Mal überzeugt, dass es vielleicht doch keine so schlechte Idee war, soviel Geld in dieses gigantische Projekt zu stecken.-

Plus vide c'était dans les stations de la Metro Express, une première section a été libérée pour le public le 22 décembre, quand je suis resté coincé encore une fois dans un embouteillage, j'ai rapidement saisi l'occasion et j'ai fini mon chemin de Rose Hill à Port Louis avec le nouveau train , une première pour moi. Rs 30 pour un billet me semblait raisonnable et quand je suis descendu du train à Port Louis moins de 18 minutes plus tard, j'étais convaincu pour la première fois que ce n'était peut-être pas une trop mauvaise idée d'investir autant d'argent dans ce gigantesque projet.

Viele der Bauaktivitäten hängen mit diesem in 2017 gestarteten öffentlichen Nahverkehrssystem-Projekt zusammen. Bis der südliche Streckenabschnitt der Stadtbahn von Rose Hill bis Curepipe fertig wird, können noch viele Monate vergehen. Vorgesehener Termin ist September 2021. -

Many of the construction activities are related to this light rail public transport system project, which started in 2017. However, it will take many more months before the southern section from Rose Hill to Curepipe will be completed. The scheduled date is September 2021. -

De nombreuses activités de construction sont liées à ce projet de système de transport en commun par rail léger, qui a commencé en 2017. Cependant, il faudra encore plusieurs mois avant que la section sud de Rose Hill à Curepipe ne soit terminée. La date prévue est septembre 2021.

Rentner fahren auch hier kostenlos und mit mir fuhren einige, für die es an diesem Tag auch eine Premiere war. Aufgrund der Grenzschließungen für China gab es übrigens noch keine der beworbenen Nutzerkarten, Rentner waren angehalten sich beim Bahnpersonal mit ihren Personalausweis auszuweisen, was in meinen Augen die sowieso kostengünstigere Lösung wäre...-

Pensioners also are transported here free of charge and for some of them taking the train with me, it was also a first that day. Incidentally, due to the border closings for China, there were still no advertised user cards available, pensioners were required to show their ID to the train staff, which would be the cheaper option anyway in my opinion ...-

Des retraités sont transportés également ici gratuitement et pour certains d'entre eux qui prenaient le train avec moi, c'était aussi une première ce jour-là. Soit dit en passant, en raison de la fermeture des frontières pour la Chine, il n'y avait toujours pas encore des cartes d'utilisateur annoncées, les retraités étaient tenus de montrer leur carte d'identité au personnel, ce qui à mon avis serait l'option la moins chère de toute façon ...-

 

An meinem letzten Einkaufstag in Port Louis fand ich dann an 2 Apotheken Aushänge, die darauf aufmerksam machten, dass hier Gesichtsmasken verfügbar seien. Ich überlegte kurz, habe mich dann aber dagegen entschieden, da mir Euro 6 doch etwas überteuert schienen und mit dem Wissen, dass in den Ländern, in denen der Virus bereits präsent war, medizinisches Personal diese Masken händeringend benötigte. Es erschien mir unmoralisch diese Masken zu kaufen.-

On my last shopping day in Port Louis, I found notices at 2 pharmacies pointing out that face masks were available here. For a moment I gave it a thought, but decided against it, because Euro 6 seemed a bit overpriced and with the knowledge that in the countries in which the virus was already present, medical personnel desperately needed these masks. It seemed somehow immoral to me to buy these masks. -

Lors de mon dernier jour de shopping à Port Louis, j'ai trouvé des avis dans deux pharmacies qui ont fait savoir aux gens que des masques étaient disponibles. Pour un instant j'ai réfléchi, mais j'ai décidé de ne pas le faire, car l'Euro 6 semblait un peu cher et sachant que dans les pays où le virus était déjà présent, le personnel médical avait désespérément besoin de ces masques. Il m'a semblé immoral d'acheter ces masques.

Einen Tag vor meiner Abreise hatte ich tatsächlich nichts mehr auf meiner Liste stehen, so entschied ich mich kurzerhand mit dem Bus zum Casela Park zu fahren, den ich mehr als 20 Jahre nicht mehr besucht hatte.-

The day before I left, I actually had nothing on my to do list, so I decided to take the bus to Casela Park, which I had not visited for more than 20 years.-

La veille de mon départ, je n'avais en fait rien sur ma liste à faire, j'ai donc décidé de me rendre au parc Casela avec l'autobus, je n'avais plus visité le parc depuis plus de 20 ans.

Um es vorweg zu sagen, es war ein ganz unglaublich intensiver Besuch bei wechselhaftem Wetter. Regen und Sonne öfters auch mal gleichzeitig. Wer mich kennt, weiß dass ich Tiere unglaublich spannend finde, und dass Tierhaltung in Zoos lange Zeit ein Thema war, das mich über ein normales Interesse hinaus beschäftigte.

Gleich hinter dem Eingang gab es das Highlight des Tages...Nach einem kurzen Gespräch mit den Pflegern wurde ich überraschend zu den Flughunden ins Gehege eingeladen und machte dort Bekanntschaft mit Romeo. Flughunde sind soziale Wesen, ortstreu und wie man sieht auch neugierig, denn er kam gleich wie auch seine Partnerin Julie angeflogen ohne dass bereits eine Belohnung in Sicht gewesen wäre. Es waren Momente, die mich wirklich glücklich gemacht haben. Seit ich in Rodrigues lebe, beobachte ich Flughunde, beschäftige ich mich mit ihrer Gefährdung und ihrer Arterhaltung und versuche Missverständnissen entgegenzutreten, sobald und wo immer danach gerufen wird, ihren Bestand zu senken, weil sie sich, wie es ja ihre Natur ist über Obstbäume hermachen oder weil sie als vermeintliche Überträger von Krankheiten bekämpft werden,  wo wir wieder auch bei Corona sind...- 

To say it in advance, it was an intense visit in changeable weather, sunny and rainy sometimes at the same time. Anyone who knows me knows too that I find animals incredibly exciting and that zoo husbandry has long been a topic that I was concerned with beyond a normal interest.

The highlight of the day was right behind the entrance ... After a short conversation with the caretakers, I was surprisingly invited to the fruit bats into their enclosure where I got to know Romeo. Fruit bats are social creatures, faithful to locations and, as you can see, also curious, because he came over to me like his partner Julie without a reward in sight. Moments that really made me happy.

Since I have been living in Rodrigues, I have been observing fruit bats for many years, always interested in questions about their endangerment and conservation as species, and trying to counter misunderstandings as soon as and wherever calls are made to reduce their numbers because, as is their nature, they forage fruits trees or because they are fought as supposed carriers of diseases, where we are again on the topic of Corona ...-

Pour le dire à l'avance, ce fut une visite incroyablement intense, pourtant le temps était variable, la pluie et le soleil quelquesfois au même moment. Quiconque me connaît sait que je trouve des animaux incroyablement excitants et la garde des animaux dans les zoos est depuis longtemps un sujet qui me préoccupait au-delà d'un intérêt normal.
 

Le point culminant de la journée était juste derrière l'entrée ... Après une courte conversation avec les gardiens, j'ai été étonnamment invité aux chauves-souris frugivores dans leur enclos où j'ai fait la connaissance de Roméo. Les chauves-souris frugivores sont des créatures sociales, fidèles à l'emplacement et, comme vous pouvez le voir, également curieuses, car il est venu sur moi, comme son partenaire Julie, juste comme cela, sans récompense en vue. C'étaient des moments de bonheur. Depuis que je vis à Rodrigues, j'observe les chauves-souris frugivores, leur mise en danger et la conservation comme espèce me rendent toujours dans un état d'alerte dès et où elles sont en danger d'être combattues, car elles se nourrissent des fruits considérées par l'homme comme des compétiteurs ou parce qu'elles sont vues comme des porteurs de maladies, où nous sommes à nouveau au sujet de  Corona ...-

Casela hat Bereiche, die dazu einladen mit den Tieren Zeit zu verbringen, hier waren es die Ziegen. Ziegen finde ich klasse und ich nutzte die Möglichkeit gegen ein kleines Entgelt Fläschchen zu geben, ich war alleine und so traute ich mich, mich vielleicht auch ein wenig lächerlich zu machen. Es gab eine ganze Menge mehr Ziegen als man auf dem Foto sieht, und dass nicht nur ich Spaß hatte, konnte man später eindeutig an meiner hellen Hose ablesen. Wie gesagt, das Wetter war wechselhaft...-

Casela has areas that invite you to spend time with the animals, here it was the goats. I think goats are great and when bottle feeding came as an option against a small fee, I did not say no. I was alone and so I dared to make myself a little ridiculous. There were a lot more goats than you can see in the photo, and that it wasn't just me having fun that was clearly evident later on in my light-colored pants. As I said, the weather was changeable ...-

Casela a des zones qui invitent à passer du temps avec les animaux, ici c'était les chèvres. Je pense que les chèvres sont des créatures géniales et quand l'occasion se présentait de les donner le biberon pour une somme modique, j'en ai profité, j'étais seul et j'ai donc osé me rendre un peu ridicule. Il y avait beaucoup plus de chèvres que vous ne pouvez le voir sur la photo, et ce n'était pas seulement moi à s'amuser, clairement évident plus tard dans mon pantalon de couleur claire. Comme je l'ai dit, le temps était variable ...-

Casela vor mehr als 20 Jahren war als weitläufiger Vogelpark bekannt. Es gab ein paar weitere eher lokal ansässige Tiere, dies hat sich im Laufe der Jahre sehr verändert. Casela ist zu einem kleinen Zoo geworden und zeigt nun auch Tiere vom afrikanischen Kontinent. Giraffen, Löwen, Nilpferde, Dromedare,Nashörner...nur um ein paar zu nennen. Man hofft auch immer noch auf Elefanten. Aus alter Gewohnheit hielt ich mich nach den Flughunden lange bei den Vögeln auf, auch hier durfte man einigen sehr nahe sein und aktiv bei der Fütterung helfen. Da es nicht so voll war, erlebte ich es stimmig, nicht wirklich nur als einen Service an Touristen. Die anwesenden Pfleger stellten im Gespräch die Tiere und ihren eigentlichen Lebensraum vor.-

Il y a plus de 20 ans, Casela était connue comme un parc ornithologique très spacieux. Il y avait quelques autres animaux locaux, cela a beaucoup changé au fil des ans. Casela est devenu un petit zoo et montre maintenant également des animaux du continent africain. Girafes, lions, hippopotames, dromedaires, rhinocéros ... pour n'en nommer que quelques-uns. On espère de montrer aussi un jour des éléphants. Par habitude, je suis resté longtemps avec les oiseaux après les chauves-souris frugivores, ici aussi vous pourriez être très proche de certains et aider activement à les nourrir. Comme il n'y avait pas tellement de monde, je ai vécu cet expérience de manière cohérente, pas seulement comme un service aux touristes. Les gardiens sur place ont présenté les animaux et leur habitat d'origine.-

Für mich das 2. Highlight, auf einer Ebene mit den Giraffen sein, ihnen bei der Fütterung zuzusehen und mit der für sie zuständigen Pflegerin sprechen zu können, die aus Südafrika kommt, wie auch die Schätze oben im Bild. Aus Südafrika wird auch das Futter eingeflogen, ich habe mich während des Lockdowns die ganze Zeit gefragt, ob es da nicht auch zu Engpässen gekommen ist. Gelesen habe ich diesbezüglich nichts, vielleicht finde ich darüber ja noch später etwas heraus.Das Gelände für die Giraffen ist weit, kein Vergleich mit dem Berliner Zoo. -

Certainement le deuxième point fort de la journée pour moi, d'être au même niveau que les girafes, de les regarder pendant ils sont nourris et de pouvoir parler au soignant qui en est responsable, qui vient d'ailleur de l'Afrique du Sud, comme les trésors de la photo ci-dessus. La nourriture est également acheminée par avion depuis l'Afrique du Sud. Pendant le lockdown, je me suis toujours demandé s'il n'y avait aussi de pénurie d'approvisionnement. Je n'ai rien lu à ce sujet, je découvrirai peut-être quelque chose plus tard. La zone des girafes est large, sans comparaison avec le zoo de Berlin. -

Hier sieht man Canelle, eine ganz besondere Giraffe, wie man an ihrer rosa Zunge und hellerer Fellfärbung erkennen kann. Normalerweise ist die Zunge von Giraffen blau. Hintergrund dieser Auffälligkeit bei Canelle ist eine Mutation, Leuzismus genannt, die dazu führt, dass das Fell weiß und die darunterliegende Haut rosa sind, da die Haut keine Melanozyten  (farbstoffbildende Zellen) enthält. Im Gegensatz dazu sind beim Albinismus die Zellen zwar vorhanden, aber unfähig, den Farbstoff Melanin zu bilden. -

Canelle - a very special giraffe as you can see looking at her tongue which is pink instead of blue as giraffe tongues are supposed to be. Her fur too is lighter compared to the others. She has a mutation caused condition known as leucism, a term used to describe a wide variety of conditions which result in the partial loss of pigmentation in an animal which causes white, pale, or patchy coloration of the skin, hair, feathers, scales or cuticles, but not the eyes. Leucism is not to be confused with albinism, where the Melanocytes are present, but unable to produce the dye melanin.-

Ici Canelle, une girafe très spéciale, comme on peut reconnaisser par sa langue rose et sa couleur de fourrure plus claire. Habituellement, la langue de la girafe est bleue. Le fond de cette anomalie chez Canelle est une mutation, appelée leucisme, qui fait que la fourrure est blanche et la peau sous-jacente rose, car la peau ne contient pas de mélanocytes (cellules colorantes). En revanche, les cellules sont présentes dans l'albinisme, mais incapables de produire le colorant mélanine. -

Die kleine Giraffe im Hintergrund hatte kein Interesse an der Fütterung auf höherer Ebene. Es ist Nyota, Stern auf Swahili, die erste in Mauritius geborene Giraffe überhaupt. Geboren am 20.Oktober 2019 hat sie sich gut entwickelt und ist der ganze Stolz des Casela Teams, die Giraffen erst vor 5 Jahren eingeführt haben.-

Née le 20 octobre 2019, elle a bien évolué et fait la fierté et la joie de l'équipe Casela que les girafes n'ont introduites qu'il y a 5 ans.

Und hier zum Abschluss das Kontrastprogramm, Absperrungen und Stau in Mauritius bevor es mit dem Flieger wieder zurück nach Rodrigues geht.  Es ist der 7. März. Es war ein leicht stressiger aber doch schöner Aufenthalt, einzig verstörend die Nachrichtenbilder der ersten Märzwoche aus Réunion, wo Einheimische mit Gewalt die Einreise von Kreuzfahrtschiffpassagieren aus Angst vor dem Coronavirus verhindert hatten. -

Réunion ist die Nachbarinsel von Mauritius, sie hat ca. 850.000 Einwohner, politisch ist sie ein Übersee-Département  Frankreichs und gehört zur EU. Als Übersee-Département ist sie den Weisungen des jeweiligen Präsidenten Frankreichs unterstellt. Im Falle einer Pandemie bedeutet das, dass der amtierende Präfekt von Réunion, als Vertreter des Zentralstaats Frankreichs, den Dekreten von Frankreichs Präsident Emmanuel Macron Folge zu leisten hat.

Am 15. März verfügte Macron per Dekret einen Lockdown, die von dem Präfekten Jaques Billant umgesetzt wurde: Alle Flughäfen und Seehäfen, alle Restaurants und Bars und Schulen mussten schließen. Erlaubt wurden lediglich notwendige Besorgungen für den Lebensunterhalt.-

Der erste Covid-19 Fall in La Réunion , der "Patient Zero", ist ein 80-jähriger Mann, der von einer Kreuzfahrt auf den Bahamas und in den USA zurückgekehrt ist, bestätigt durch einen Test am 11. März 2020. Nachdem die Beschränkungen am Wochenende des 14. März angepasst wurden und Reunion sich noch in Phase 1 des Gesundheitsalarms befindet, während die französische Metropole schon in Phase 3 übergeht, wird der Lockdown für alle französischen Gebiete gültig ab Montag, dem 16. März.

Die Aussetzung von kommerziellen Flügen (Tourismus) wird allerdings nach vielen Kontroversen in der Öffentlichkeit erst am 20. März 2020 angekündigt.  "Es ist nicht das Virus, das zirkuliert, sondern wir, die es zirkulieren lassen" - die Inselbewohner werden aufgefordert, die mit dem Lockdown verbundenen Regeln strikt einzuhalten. Gleichzeitig wurde bekantgegeben, dass alle ankommenden Reisenden verpflichtet seien, sich für vierzehn Tage in Quarantäne zu begeben, drei Flüge kommen auch im Lockdown noch wöchentlich aus Paris an.

Trotz einer Reihe von Fällen, die am 21. März 2020 stark zugenommen haben, halten die Behörden die Annahme aufrecht, dass es keine lokale Kontaminationskette gibt. Am 22. März wurde jedoch am Vorabend berichtet, dass drei untersuchte Patienten vor Ort kontaminiert waren, was die ersten sichtbaren Glieder einer wahrscheinlichen Abweichung von der Kontaminationskette darstellt.-

La suspension des vols commerciaux (tourisme) ne sera annoncée que le 20 mars 2020, une décision tardive et objet d'une controverse publique. "Ce n'est pas le virus qui circule, mais nous qui le laissons circuler" - les insulaires sont priés de respecter strictement les règles liées au couvre-feu. Dans le même temps, il a été annoncé que tous les voyageurs arrivant devaient être mis en quarantaine pendant quinze jours. Pendant le couvre-feu l'aéroport Roland Garros reçoit encore 3 vols par semaine en provenance de Paris.

Malgré un certain nombre de cas qui ont fortement augmenté le 21 mars 2020, les autorités continuent de croire qu'il n'y a pas de chaîne de contamination locale. Cependant, le 22 mars, la veille au soir, il a été signalé que trois patients examinés étaient contaminés sur place, ce qui est le premier maillon visible d'une déviation probable de la chaîne de contamination.

Die Grenze von 100 betroffenen Patienten wird am Mittwoch, dem 25. März 2020, überschritten. Die ARS (Agence Régionale de Santé de la Réunion)  kündigt 17 weitere positiv gemeldete Fälle an, wodurch sich die Gesamtzahl der Infizierten auf 111 Personen erhöhte. Mit der Phase 2 des Gesundheitsnotstands gibt es eine Anpassung der nationalen Richtlinien an den lokalen Rahmen, ein Screening wird erforderlich für alle symptomatischen Reisenden mit der Verstärkung der Krankenhausempfangsmaßnahmen am Flughafen; für alle aktiven Betreuer, die Symptome melden; für alle Pflegepersonen mit Symptomen bzw. während ihrer Quarantäne; für Kontaktpersonen von bestätigten Fällen, sofern sie symptomatisch sind; für Patienten von Covid-19 behandelnden Ärzte gemäß definierter Indikationen; sowie für alle Patienten, die in den letzten 15 Tagen gereist sind, sowie für alle Neuaufnahmen in Pflegeheimen.

Am 25. März 2020 kündigte der Präsident der Republik, Emmanuel Macron den Einsatz von zwei  französischen Hubschrauberträgern an zur Stärkung der Gesundheitsvorsorge für die Inseln im Indischen Ozean, Mayotte und Reunion mit der Aufgabe, die Verbreitung des Virus durch starke Migrationsströme zwischen Anjouan, einer Insel der Komoren, und dem französischen Departement Mayotte zu verhindern, medizinische Versorgung war nicht geplant, die Operation war beschränkt auf eine Logistik-, Transport- und Lagermission.-

Le 25 mars 2020, le président de la République, Emmanuel Macron, a annoncé l'utilisation de deux porteurs hélicoptères de la marine française pour renforcer la santé des îles de l'océan Indien, Mayotte et La Réunion, avec pour mission de propager le virus grâce à de forts flux migratoires entre Anjouan, une île. Aux Comores, et dans le département français de Mayotte, les soins médicaux n'étaient pas prévus, l'opération s'est limitée à une mission de logistique, de transport et de stockage.-

Ende März zählt La Réunion 257 Fälle von Covid-19 Infektionen, der erste nicht importierte Fall wird am 30. März bekannt gegeben. 
Am 1. April folgte das Verkaufsverbot von Alkohol bis auf Weiteres nach 17:00 Uhr und alle Geschäfte und Supermärkte mussten ab dem 10. April um 19:00 Uhr schließen. Wie eigentlich fast überall wird auch in Réunion im Vorfeld gehamstert, aber es gibt keine Mangelsituationen, die Vorratslage gilt als gut, im Gesundheitsbereich fehlen allerdings Masken, eine angekündigte Lieferung stellt sich als defekt heraus. Auf der Insel gibt es insgesamt 150 Reanimationsbetten, ein besserer Schnitt als in der Metropole, dennoch macht man sich Sorgen in Bezug auf einen plötzlich ansteigenden Bedarf, denn im Notfall könnte man nicht auf schlechter gestellte Nachbarinseln zählen oder ins entfernte Frankreich ausweichen. Dramatische Bilder aus Krankenhäusern wie aus Frankreich gibt es nicht.Es gibt aber einen Mangel an Handsanitizern, die 3  Rumdestillerien der Insel rüsten um und produzieren diese nun lokal. Ende April gibt es 420 Infektionen, der 14.4. war der erste Tag ohne registrierte Neuinfektion.-

Le 1er avril, une interdiction des ventes d'alcool après 17 heures est ordonnée et tous les magasins et supermarchés doivent fermer à 19 heures à partir du 10 avril.Comme c'est le cas un peu partout à La Réunion, il y a des achats panique au commencement, mais il n'y a pas de pénurie, la situation des stocks est jugée bonne. Il y a au total 150 lits de réanimation sur l'île, une meilleure coupe que dans la métropole, mais on est toujours inquiet d'une augmentation soudaine de la demande, car en cas d'urgence, La Réunion ne pourriez pas compter sur des îles voisines équipées pire en comparaison ou de transferer des patients vers la France si loin. Il n'y a pas d'images dramatiques d'hôpitaux comme en France métropole, mais il y a une pénurie de gel hydroalcooliques pour les mains,  les trois distilleries de rhum de l'île le commencent à le produire maintenant localement.
Fin avril, il y avait 420 infections, les 14.4. était le premier jour sans nouvelle infection registrée.

Nach 55 Tagen Lockdown gibt es in La Réunion eine erste Lockerungsphase ab dem 11.Mai, die Geschäfte und Strände können wieder geöffnet werden, während Restaurants und Bars weiterhin geschlossen bleiben. Das Tragen von Nase-Mund-Masken wird in der Öffentlichkeit zwingend vorgeschrieben. Alle einreisenden Personen, die in Réunion ankommen, müssen sich in eine 14-tägige Quarantäne begeben. Schulen auf Réunion dürfen ab dem 18. Mai wieder öffnen, dies geschieht jedoch regional graduell. die Gymnasien sind erst am 2.Juni dran.

Im Verhalten der Bevölkerung ist eine Veränderung zu beobachten,  zweifellos eine Folge der Lockerungsankündigungen der Regierung aufgrund der geringen Anzahl neuer positiver Fälle. Die Anzahl der zur Eröffnung zugelassenen Läden ist auch ein Grund für die Präsenz der Bevölkerung auf den Straßen.

Am 28. Mai 2020 wird die zweite Phase der Lockerung für ab dem 2. Juni 2020 angekündigt. Diese neue Phase umfasst die Wiedereröffnung von Treffpunkten wie Bars, Cafés, Restaurants und Kinos. Die Verkehrsgrenze von maximal 1 km des Wohnorts wird aufgehoben und auf 100 km angehoben. 

Am 20. Mai wird der erste Todesfall gemeldet.Ein 82jähriger Mann, diagnostiziert in Mayotte und transferiert am 9. Mai nach La Réunion um medizinisch behandelt zu werden. Ende Mai zählt La Réunion 471 Covid-19 Infektionsfälle.-

After 55 days of lockdown, there will be a first phase of easing starting by May 11th, shops and beaches will reopen while restaurants and bars remain closed. The wearing of nose-mouth masks is mandatory in public. All people arriving in Reunion must go through a 14-day quarantine. All schools in Reunion are allowed to reopen on May 18th, however 13 mayors have stated that the closure will remain in effect, high schools will reopen as from June 2.
A change in the behavior of the population can be observed, no doubt a consequence of the government's announcement of easing due to the small number of new positive cases. The number of stores approved for opening is also a reason for the presence of the population on the streets. On May 28, 2020, the second phase of easing is announced for June 2, 2020. Après 55 jours de confinement, un relâchement est observé, sans doute écho à l'annonce du gouvernement sur le déconfinement progressif à partir du 11 mai et le faible nombre de cas positifs dépistés.Le nombre de petits commerces autorisés à ouvrir est également une cause de la présence de la population dans les rues. Les magasins et les plages vont reouvrir tandis que les restaurants et les bars restent fermés. Le port de masques nez-bouche est obligatoire en public. Toutes les personnes arrivant à La Réunion doivent se rendre en quarantaine de 14 jours. Toutes les écoles de la Réunion rouvriront le 18 mai.

Le 28 mai 2020,  la 2^e phase du déconfinement est annoncée à compter du 2 juin 2020. Cette nouvelle phase inclut la réouverture des lieux de rassemblement tels que les bars, cafés, restaurants, cinémas. La limite de circulation à 1 km maximum du lieu de résidence est levée et augmentée à 100 km. 

Le premier décès est signalé le 20 mai, un homme de 82 ans qui a été diagnostiqué à Mayotte et été transféré à La Réunion le 9 mai pour des soins médicaux. 

Fin mai, La Réunion comptait 471 infections enregistré de la Covid-19.
