Covid-19 in Rodrigues : Chronology in Figures...Einfach nur die Zahlen...Juste les Chiffres....Updated frequently

 

 Rodrigues detected the island's first official local Covid-19 case on 26 January 2022. A woman with no travelling history in the recent past and to her knowledge not in contact with someone presenting the typical symptoms. Until now Patient Zero could not be traced. Contact tracing quickly showed that the virus was already present in quite some numbers of the population.

 27.01.2022:   66 active cases in total until  9.30pm, 

                      40 asymptomatic, 26 mild symptoms

28.01.2022:   68 active cases in total until  5.00am

28.01.2022: 282 active cases in total until 10.00pm

During the first days symptomatic cases were admitted to Mont Lubin Health Centre, asymptomatic cases to hotels changed to quarantine centres. New isolation protocols are announced for the next day.

29.01.2022: Measures taken when positive tested persons could not anymore accomodated in quarantine hotels due to saturation

- Semi Lockdown from 7.00pm to 6.00am until 10.02.2022

- Domiciliary Monitoring Unit put in place to monitor asymptomatic cases now transferred back home for self-isolation

The count stands now at 363 active cases in total.

Since the start of the outbreak 425 PCR Tests and 1, 415 Rapid Antigenic Tests (hospital)  were effected.

During the first days 53 % of all positive cases were under 18 years.

There was some confusion about the announced figures by MBC the day before.

Figures will be from now on communicated once a day for the previous day from midnight to 0.00am.

The vaccination progress is impressive, but note, with a population of about 44,000 there are still more than 9,000 who are not protected, mostly children under 12.

 

 

 

 

On 07.02.2022 a first patient in self-isolation died, a man of 39 years who suffered from comorbidities. Tested positive on 06.02.2022 when he went to the hospital for his foot infection, his condition deteriorated the next day with high fevers and respiratory problems. When eventually his family managed to get him to the hospital, he was already dead. An interne inquiry at the hospital attributed his death to his comorbidities.

On Monday, 07.02.2022, the Prime Minister postponed the upcoming elections in Rodrigues from 13.02.to 27.02.2022 due to the pandemic.

A second patient who was tested positive at home with underlying health issues died in home isolation, a woman of 81 years. Both deceased persons were buried on 08.02.2022 at Baie Lascar Cemetary. Please note that this death was not mentioned in the briefings, nor was the figure deducted from active cases accordingly, it should read 3,748 active cases. 

The Semi-Lockdown has been extended to 24.02.2022.

 Please note, it's the first time that a patient is on a ventilator. 

 

Sequencing results in all samples sent in confirm the expected presesence of variant Omicron in Rodrigues.

 

The three flights announced two days ago for 15(1) & 18 (2) February will be operated with mandatory 7 days quarantine in a hotel plus test protocol.

As Delta is still present in the Mauritian community, the risk of spreading and introducing it here needs still to be avoided.

 

As to the vaccination progress compared to the week before one can see that more children received their second dose. The vaccination campaign will be continued from Monday, 13.02.2022 on. 5 doctors and staff of the DMU will assist in the operation in order to accelerate the progress. Beside QEH, vaccination will take place also in Mont Plaisir.

 

Please note, on 14.02.2022 the patient on the ventilator died at 3am at age 72. It was Marlin Augustin, Rodrigues' famous accordionist.Similar to the previous 2 victims his death was attributed to his comorbidities.

This morning I learned that a woman of 65 years who was admitted at MHLC died too. It was reported in Le Mauricien. 

 

On Friday night at about 9pm an 80 year old man who was on a ventilator died at age 80.

 

 

 

Due to an article at Le Mauricien, another patient died at MLHC in the night to Sunday. The man was 70 years old and suffered from cancer.

There was also a woman at MLHC from Grand La Fouche Mangue who died at age 66 on Sunday.

 Please note:

 Friday, on 24.02.2022, the semi lockdown imposed on Rodrigues since 29.01.2022, is going to end.

Covid-19: Black Rhino stuck in Mauritius ...Des cas de Covid-19 dans l'équipage...Rodrigues Regale leeren sich

 

Drei Besatzungsmitglieder des Frachters Black Rhino wurden am Montag, dem 17. Januar, positiv auf Covid-19 getestet, der „Meister“, der „Oberingenieur“ sowie der „Zweite Ingenieur“. 

Ursprünglich sollte die Black Rhino am Dienstag um 17 Uhr Mauritius in Richtung Port Mathurin verlassen. Aber mit dem Nachweis von drei positiven Fällen von Covid-19 unter den Besatzungsmitgliedern war das Schiff gezwungen, wie im Gesundheitsprotokoll vorgeschrieben, am Dock zu bleiben. Die Reise musste abgesagt werden. Der Frachter, der am Dienstagnachmittag 174 Container, die insbesondere Lebensmittel enthalten, nach Port Mathurin verladen sollte, konnte die Reise nicht antreten. 

Nur 4 Tage vor dem Nominierungstag in Rodrigues sitzen neun Polizeifahrzeuge, die für die nächsten Regionalwahlen eingesetzt werden sollen, auf dem Schiff fest. Ein Mitarbeiter des Fischereiministeriums, der kontaktiert wurde, sprcht von einem Plan B, den es gäbe. Oder dass die Mauritius Trochetia die Reise macht. Ob diese Option gewählt wurde, wird sich jedoch nicht vor dem 23.Januar zeigen, da die Mauritius Trochetia am Montag in Agalega vor Anker ging. Mittlerweile breitet sich auch die Sorge vor Lebensmittelknappheit auf Rodrigues aus. -

Three crew members of the Black Rhino freighter tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday January 17. These are the ʹMasterʹ, the ʹchief engineerʹ and the ʹsecond engineerʹ. 

The Black Rhino was originally scheduled to leave Mauritius at 5 p.m. on Tuesday for Port-Mathurin. But with the detection of three positive cases of Covid-19 among the crew members, the ship was forced to remain at the dock as stipulated in the health protocol. The trip had to be cancelled. The freighter which was to embark 174 containers, which contain food in particular, bound for Port-Mathurin on Tuesday afternoon could not make the trip. 

At just 4 days until Nomination Day in Rodrigues, nine police vehicles that will be deployed for the next regional elections find themselves stuck on the ship. Contacted, an employee of the Ministry of Fisheries says he has a plan B. Or, that the Mauritius Trochetia makes the trip. However, we will have to wait until January 23 to find out if this option has been chosen because the Mauritius Trochetia anchored in Agalega on Monday. In the meantime, the fear of a shortage of food products is spreading in Rodrigues. -

Trois membres d’équipage du cargo Black Rhino ont été testés positifs à la Covid-19, lundi 17 janvier.  Il s’agit du ʹMasterʹ, du ʹchief engineer ʹ et du ʹsecond engineer ʹ.

Le Black Rhino devait initialement quitter Maurice à 17 heures ce mardi pour Port-Mathurin.

Mais avec la détection de trois cas positifs à la Covid-19 parmi les membres d’équipage le navire a été contraint de rester à quai comme le stipule le protocole sanitaire. Le trajet a dû être annulé.

Le cargo qui devait embarquer 174 conteneurs, qui renferment notamment de la nourriture, à destination de Port-Mathurin ce mardi après-midi n’a pu effectuer le trajet.

A j moins 4 du Nomination Day à Rodrigues, neuf véhicules de police qui seront déployés pour les prochaines élections régionales se retrouvent coincés sur le navire. 

Contacté, un préposé du ministère de la Pêche dit avoir un plan B.

Soit, que le  Mauritius Trochetia effectue le trajet.

Cependant, il faudra patienter jusqu’au 23 janvier prochain pour savoir si cette option a été retenue car le Mauritius Trochetia a jeté l’ancre à Agalega lundi.

En attendant, la crainte d’une pénurie de produits alimentaires gagne Rodrigues.

 

In einem Artikel im Le Mauricien vom 19.01. konnte man lesen, dass es mittlerweile wohl auch noch einen 4. entdeckten Covid-19 Fall gibt. Bislang ist noch nicht geklärt, wann die Black Rhino ablegen  oder durch die Mauritius Trochetia ersetzt werden kann.

Gestern in den verschiedenen Läden in Port Mathurin konnte man viele leere Regale sehen, und so ziemlich jede/r, versuchte seine Vorräte aufzustocken, mit dem was noch vorhanden war. Dies betrifft v.a. Kartoffeln, Zwiebeln, Reis und Speiseöl.-

In an article in Le Mauricien from 19.01. a 4th discovered Covid-19 case was mentioned. So far it has not been clarified when the Black Rhino can leave or be replaced by the Mauritius Trochetia.  

Lots of empty shelves could be seen in the various shops in Port Mathurin yesterday and pretty much everyone was trying to stock up on what was left. This applies in particular to potatoes, onions, rice and cooking oil. -

Dans un article du Mauricien du 19.01. un 4ième cas de Covid-19 sur le Black Rhino était mentionné. Jusqu'à présent, il n'a pas été précisé quand le navire peut partir ou être remplacé par le Mauritius Trochetia.  

Beaucoup d'étagères vides étaient visibles dans les différents magasins de Port Mathurin hier et à peu près tout le monde essayait de s'approvisionner avec ce qui restait. Cela s'applique en particulier aux pommes de terre, aux oignons, au riz et à l'huile de cuisson.

Das neue Jahr 2022 hat in Réunion mit einer Ausgangssperre zwischen 21 Uhr und 5 Uhr morgens begonnen. Bereits nach Weihnachten war klar, dass diese Maßnahme kommen würde, da die Infektionszahlen Woche für Woche wieder stark gestiegen waren. (siehe hier/Kommentarbereich), bis zu 645 Fälle auf 100000 Einwohner.Gleichzeitig stiegen sowohl die Hospitalisierungsrate, fast die Hälfte der Intensivbetten (35) war bereits vor Weihnachten belegt durch Covid-19 Patienten. auch die Anzahl der Todesfälle stieg wieder. Am 28.12.2021 erklärte in Konsequenz der Präfekt erneut den Gesundheitsnotstand.-

In Réunion the new year 2022 started with a curfew between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. It was already clear after Christmas that this measure would come, as the number of infections had risen sharply again week after week. La nouvelle année 2022 a commencé à La Réunion avec un couvre-feu entre 21h et 5h du matin. Il était déjà clair après Noël que cette mesure viendrait, car le nombre d'infections avait de nouveau fortement augmenté semaine après semaine. Dans le même temps, le taux d'hospitalisation a augmenté, près de la moitié des lits de soins intensifs (35) ont été occupés avant Noel par des patients Covid-19. Le 28 décembre 2021, le préfet a de nouveau décrété l'état d'urgence sanitaire.

Die Beschränkungen - Was man wissen sollte

Bis zum 01.01.2022 hat Réunion 76.602 Fälle von COVID-19 bestätigt. Die französischen Behörden haben aufgrund des jüngsten Anstiegs der Zahl der COVID-19-Fälle ab dem 01. Januar 2022 neue Hygienebeschränkungen im Land eingeführt.

 

Ab dem 01. Januar tritt eine tägliche Ausgangssperre von 21:00 bis 5:00 Uhr in Kraft mit Geltung bis 23. Januar 2022. Nur Personen, die eine Ausnahmegenehmigung vorlegen, können während der Ausgangssperre mobil sein. 

 

Die meisten Geschäfte sind geöffnet. In überfüllten Bereichen wie Märkten, öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln und Stadien sind Gesichtsmasken im Innen- und Außenbereich obligatorisch. Versammlungen, Outdoor-Aktivitäten und Picknicks sind nicht erlaubt. 

 

Kommerzielle Flüge aus Südafrika, Lesotho, Botswana, Simbabwe, Mosambik, Namibia und Eswatini sind bis auf weiteres weiterhin ausgesetzt. 

 

Vollständig geimpfte Reisende benötigen einen Impfnachweis und einen negativen COVID-PCR-Test, der 72 Stunden vor Abflug durchgeführt wurde. Für alle Passagiere ist ein negativer PCR-Test von weniger als 72 Stunden erforderlich. Reisende, die nicht geimpft sind, müssen einen zwingenden Grund für die Reise von und nach Réunion (Frankreich) nachweisen. Bereits seit Samstag, 4. Dezember 2021, gilt, dass nur noch Passagiere mit zwingenden Gründen in und aus als „scharlachrot“ eingestufte Ländern reisen können. Reisen zu touristischen oder studentischen Zwecken sind nicht mehr erlaubt. Diese Maßnahme gilt für alle Passagiere, unabhängig von ihrem Impfstatus. Es gilt zu beachten, dass Mauritius im Gegensatz zum französischen Festland noch nicht von der scharlachroten Liste Réunions gestrichen wurde!!

 

Quarantänebestimmungen bei Einreise

 

Passagiere, die vom französischen Festland ankommen, müssen nicht unter Quarantäne gestellt werden, jedoch müssen diejenigen, die aus Mauritius einreisen und eine Einreisegenehmigung erhalten, zehn Tage lang an einem Ort ihrer Wahl isoliert werden. The Restrictions - What you need to know

By 01.01.2022 Reunion has confirmed 76,602 cases of COVID-19. The French authorities has announced new sanitary restrictions in the country due to the latest surge in the number of COVID-19 cases starting January 01, 2022.  A daily curfew from 09:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. will come into effect from January 01 to January 23, 2022.  Only individuals who present an exceptional authorization can travel during curfew hours.

The majority of businesses are open.  Face masks are mandatory indoor and outdoor, in crowded areas, such as markets, public transportations, and stadiums.  

Gatherings, outdoor activities and picnics are not allowed.  

Commercial flights from South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia and Eswatini are still suspended until further notice.  

Fully vaccinated travelers need proof of vaccination and a negative COVID PCR test performed in the 72 hours before departure.  A negative PCR test of less than 72 hours are required for all passengers.  Travelers who are not vaccinated must show they are essential travelers with a compelling reason for travel to and from Reunion (France). 

As of Saturday, December 4, 2021, only passengers with compelling reasons will be able to travel to and from countries classified as “scarlet red”. Travel for tourist or student purposes is no longer allowed. This measure applies to all passengers, regardless of their vaccination status.Please note that contrary to mainland France Mauritius has not yet been removed from the scarlet-red list of Réunion!

Entry and Exit/Quarantine Requirements

Passengers arriving from mainland France are not required to quarantine, however, those arriving from Mauritius, who receive permission to enter, are subject to ten days of isolation in a location of their choice.

Les Restrictions - À savoir 

Au 01/01/2022 La Réunion a confirmé 76 602 cas de COVID-19. Les autorités françaises ont annoncé de nouvelles restrictions sanitaires dans le pays en raison de la dernière augmentation du nombre de cas de COVID-19 à partir du 01 janvier 2022. 

Un couvre-feu quotidien à partir de 21h00. à 5h00 du matin entrera en vigueur du 01 janvier au 23 janvier 2022. Seules les personnes qui présentent une autorisation exceptionnelle peuvent voyager pendant les heures de couvre-feu. 

La majorité des commerces sont ouverts. Les masques faciaux sont obligatoires à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur, dans les zones surpeuplées, telles que les marchés, les transports en commun et les stades.

Les rassemblements, les activités de plein air et les pique-niques ne sont pas autorisés. 

Les vols commerciaux en provenance d'Afrique du Sud, du Lesotho, du Botswana, du Zimbabwe, du Mozambique, de Namibie et d'Eswatini restent encore suspendus jusqu'à nouvel ordre. 

Les voyageurs entièrement vaccinés ont besoin d'une preuve de vaccination et d'un test COVID PCR négatif effectué dans les 72 heures avant le départ. Un test PCR négatif de moins de 72 heures est requis pour tous les passagers. Les voyageurs qui ne sont pas vaccinés doivent prouver qu'ils sont des voyageurs essentiels avec un motif impérieux de voyager à destination et en provenance de la Réunion (France). 

Déjà depuis samedi 4 décembre 2021 en vigeur, seuls les passagers ayant des raisons impérieuses pourront voyager vers et depuis les pays classés « rouge écarlate ». Les voyages touristiques ou des étudiantes ne sont plus autorisés. Cette mesure s'applique à tous les passagers, quel que soit leur statut vaccinal. 

Attention, contrairement à la France métropolitaine, Maurice n'a pas encore été rayé de la liste rouge écarlate de la Réunion! 

Conditions de Quarantaine à l'entrée du pays

Les passagers arrivant de France métropolitaine ne sont pas tenus de mettre en quarantaine, cependant, ceux arrivant de Maurice, qui reçoivent l'autorisation d'entrer, sont soumis à dix jours d'isolement dans un lieu de leur choix. Mauritius: Deutsche Touristinnen hielten sich nicht an Quarantänemaßnahmen...Breach of Quarantine...Trois touristes arrêtées pour non-respect de la mise en quarantaine

 Mauritius: Drei Touristinnen wegen Nichteinhaltung der Quarantäne festgenommen

Drei deutsche Frauen sind auf Mauritius vor Gericht erschienen, weil sie die Quarantäne nicht eingehalten haben. 

Die Fakten 

Drei deutsche Touristinnen kamen am 6. Dezember aus Frankfurt auf Mauritius an. Gleich nach der Landung wurde bei ihnen wie bei allen anderen Passagieren ein PCR-Test durchgeführt, bevor sie zu ihrem Hotel zurückkehrten. Der "Regional Public Health Superintendent" erhielt am Abend eine E-Mail aus dem Flughafenlabor, in der darüber informiert wurde, dass eine der Touristinnen positiv auf Covid-19 getestet wurde und sie sich 10 Tage lang selbst isolieren sollte. Bei den anderen beiden waren die Ergebnisse negativ, aber als Kontaktfälle mussten sie 7 Tage in Isolation bleiben. 

Sie haben die Einrichtung verlassen 

Die Deutschen wollten sich jedoch nicht an die Beschränkungen auf der Insel halten. Der Leiter des Gästehauses alarmierte daraufhin den „Regional Public Health Superintendent“. Am 7. Dezember wurde festgestellt, dass die drei Frauen den "Tatort" verlassen hatten. Beamte der Strafverfolgungsbehörden begannen, sie aufzuspüren, insbesondere die Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in Mahébourg unter der Leitung von Inspektor Jugasingh und Elemente der Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) der Southern Division. Auch die anderen Einheiten im ganzen Land seien alarmiert worden, berichtet Defimedia. 

Vor dem Tribunal 

Am Freitag, 17. Dezember, wurden die Touristinnen nach zehntägiger Flucht in Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche festgenommen. Sie erschienen vor dem Gericht in Mahébourg, da gegen sie eine vorläufige Anklage wegen Verstoßes gegen das Quarantänegesetz erhoben wurde. Sie wurden gegen Kaution freigelassen, bevor sie in eine Einrichtung in Blue Bay verlegt wurden. Ihr Abenteuer endet am Donnerstag, wo sie zurück nach Deutschland fliegen. 

 

Mauritius: three tourists arrested for non-compliance with quarantine 

Three German women have appeared in court in Mauritius because they did not respect the quarantine. 

Facts 

Three German tourists arrived in Mauritius on December 6 from Frankfurt. As soon as they landed,  a PCR test was performed like with all the other passengers before getting to their residence. The "Regional Public Health Superintendent" received an email from the airport lab in the evening informing them that one of the tourists tested positive for Covid-19, and that she was to self-isolate for 10 days. For the other two, their results were negative, but as contact cases, they had to remain in isolation for 7 days. 

They had left the guest-house

The Germans were unwilling to abide by the restrictions put in place on the island. The manager of the guesthouse then alerted the "Regional Public Health Superintendent". However, on December 7, it was  realized that the three tourists had left the scene. Law enforcement officials began to track them down, namely the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in Mahebourg, led by Inspector Jugasingh and elements of the Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Southern Division. The other units across the country were also alerted, reports Defimedia. 

Before the tribunal 

Friday, December 17, the tourists were apprehended in Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche after ten days on the run. They appeared in court in Mahebourg, as a provisional Breach of Quarantine Act charge was brought against them. They were released on bail before being re-placed in a facility in Blue Bay. Their adventure ends on Thursday when they fly back to Germany.

Trois Allemandes ont comparu devant le tribunal à Maurice, puisqu’elles n’ont pas respecté la mise en quarantaine.

Les faits

Trois touristes allemandes sont arrivées à Maurice le 6 décembre dernier en provenance de Frankfurt. Dès leur atterrissage, elles ont effectué un test PCR comme tous les autres passagers avant de rejoindre leur résidence. Le ‘Regional Public Health Superintendant’ a réceptionné un courriel du laboratoire de l’aéroport dans la soirée pour l’informer que l’une des touristes est positive à la Covid-19, et elle devait s’isoler pendant 10 jours. Pour les deux autres, leurs résultats sont négatifs, mais en tant que cas contacts, elles devaient rester en isolement durant 7 jours.

Elles ont quitté l’établissement

Les Allemandes n’ont pas voulu respecter les restrictions mises en place sur l’île. La responsable de la maison d’hôte a alors alerté le ‘Regional Public Health Superintendant’. Pourtant, le 7 décembre, elle s’est rendu compte que les trois touristes ont quitté les lieux.
Les forces de l’ordre ont commencé à les traquer à savoir le Criminal Investigation Division (CID) de Mahebourg, sous la houlette de l’inspecteur Jugasingh et les éléments de Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) de la Southern Division. Les autres unités à travers le pays ont été également alertées, relate Defimedia.

Devant le tribunal

Vendredi 17 décembre, les touristes ont été appréhendées à Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche après dix jours de cavale. Elles ont comparu devant la cour de Mahébourg, puisqu’une charge provisoire de Breach of Quarantine Act a été retenue à leur encontre. Elles ont été libérées sous caution avant d’être de nouveau placées dans un établissement à Blue Bay. Leur aventure s’achève ce jeudi en reprenant l’avion pour l’Allemagne.
