Menschenmassen in den Fußballstadien der Euro 2020 und in Kneipen und Bars in den Austragungsstädten treiben den aktuellen Anstieg der Coronavirus-Infektionen in Europa an, teilte die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) am Donnerstag mit. 

Ein 10-wöchiger Rückgang der Neuinfektionen mit dem Coronavirus in der gesamten Region ist zu Ende und eine neue Infektionswelle ist laut WHO unvermeidlich, wenn Fußballfans und andere ihre Wachsamkeit verlieren. 

Letzte Woche stieg die Zahl der neuen Fälle um 10%, was auf die Vermischung der Menschenmassen in den Austragungsstädten des Euro 2020, Reisen und die Lockerung sozialer Beschränkungen zurückzuführen ist, teilte die WHO mit. 

"Wir müssen weit über die Stadien selbst hinausblicken", sagte die leitende Notfallbeauftragte der WHO, Catherine Smallwood, gegenüber Reportern. „Wir müssen uns ansehen, wie die Leute dorthin gelangen, reisen sie in großen, überfüllten Buskonvois? Und wenn sie die Stadien verlassen, gehen sie dann in überfüllte Bars und Kneipen, um die Spiele zu sehen? „Es sind diese kleinen kontinuierlichen Ereignisse, die die Ausbreitung des Virus vorantreiben“, sagte Smallwood. 

Bundesinnenminister Horst Seehofer bezeichnete die Entscheidung des europäischen Fußball-Dachverbands UEFA, große Menschenmengen bei der Euro 2020 zuzulassen, als „völlig unverantwortlich“.  Die UEFA sagte in einer Erklärung gegenüber Reuters, dass die Abschwächungsmaßnahmen an den Austragungsstätten „vollständig mit den Vorschriften der zuständigen lokalen Gesundheitsbehörden übereinstimmen“. 

 Der Anstieg neuer COVID-19-Fälle findet statt, da sich die ansteckendere Delta-Virus-Variante schnell in ganz Europa ausbreitet. Fast 2.000 Menschen, die in Schottland leben, haben an einer EM 2020-Veranstaltung teilgenommen, während sie mit COVID-19 infiziert waren, wobei viele am 18. Juni an ihrem Gruppenspiel gegen England in London teilnahmen, teilten die schottischen Behörden am Mittwoch mit. 

Der Anstieg der Infektionen hat Bedenken geweckt, dass sich im Herbst eine dritte Welle in ganz Europa ausbreiten könnte, wenn die Menschen nicht geimpft werden. "Die Besorgnis über einen Herbstanstieg ist immer noch da, aber was wir jetzt sehen, ist, dass er noch früher kommen könnte", sagte Smallwood.-

• Einige Tage nach dem Spiel zwischen Schottland und England stiegen die Zahlen in Schottland laut BBC besonders bei 15- bis 44-jährigen Männern. Expert*innen vermuten einen Zusammenhang mit dem Spiel.
• Die Behörden in St. Petersburg meldeten am Montag 110 Todesfälle innerhalb von 24 Stunden, die mit einer Coronainfektion in Verbindung stehen sollen - der bisherige Höchstwert. Die Zahl der Neuinfektionen steigt seit Tagen an. Hier soll am Freitag ein Viertelfinalspiel stattfinden. Auch in Russland hat sich die Sieben-Tage-Inzidenz seit Turnierbeginn auf fast 91 nahezu verdoppelt.
• Fast 300 finnische Fans sind nach ihrer Rückkehr von den beiden Spielen ihrer Mannschaft aus Sankt Petersburg nach Behördenangaben positiv getestet worden.
• Nach dem Spiel zwischen Dänemark und Russland in Kopenhagen wurden 16 Menschen positiv getestet. Tausende Fans, die auf derselben Tribüne waren, wurden zum PCR-Test aufgefordert. 
• In Ungarn gab es bei vier Spielen 100 Prozent Auslastung ohne Maskenpflicht. Die Auswirkung dieser Spiele ist noch unbekannt, die Bilder aus dem Stadion und dem Umfeld suggerieren aber den Trugschluss, dass die Pandemie vorbei sei.

Crowds at Euro 2020 football stadiums and in pubs and bars in host cities are driving the current rise in coronavirus infections in Europe, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Thursday.

A 10-week decline in new coronavirus infections across the region has come to an end and a new wave of infections is inevitable if football fans and others drop their guard, according to WHO.

Last week, the number of new cases rose by 10%, driven by mixing of crowds in Euro 2020 host cities, travel and easing of social restrictions, WHO said.

"We need to look much beyond just the stadiums themselves," WHO's senior emergency officer, Catherine Smallwood, told reporters.

"We need to look at how people get there, are they travelling in large crowded convoys of buses? And when they leave the stadiums, are they going into crowded bars and pubs to watch the matches?

"It is these small continuous events that are driving the spread of the virus," Smallwood said.

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer called a decision by European soccer's governing body UEFA to allow big crowds at Euro 2020 "utterly irresponsible". read more

UEFA said in a statement to Reuters that mitigation measures at host venues "are fully aligned with the regulations set out by the competent local public health authorities".

The rise in new COVID-19 cases is happening as the more contagious Delta virus variant spreads rapidly across Europe.

Nearly 2,000 people who live in Scotland have attended a Euro 2020 event while infectious with COVID-19, with many attending their group stage match against England in London on June 18, Scottish authorities said on Wednesday. read more

The rise in infections has raised concern that a third wave could spread across Europe in the autumn if people don't get vaccinated.

"The concern of an autumn surge is still there, but what we see now is that it might come even earlier," Smallwood said.

• The seven-day incidence in Great Britain has increased significantly since the tournament began.
•  A few days after the Scotland-England game, deaths rose in Scotland, particularly among men aged 15 to 44, according to the BBC. Experts suspect a connection with the game.
•  The authorities in St. Petersburg reported on Monday 110 deaths within 24 hours that are said to be associated with a corona infection - the previous maximum. The number of new infections has been increasing for days. A quarter-final game is to take place here on Friday. UEFA-Regeln bei Infektion  & Rules (just in case)

Für den Fall von Corona-Infektionen bei Mannschaften während der EM hat die Europäische Fußball-Union folgende Regeln erlassen: 

- Ein Spiel wird angepfiffen, solange ein Team 13 Spieler, darunter einen Torhüter, zur Verfügung hat.

- Um diese Marke zu erreichen, können zusätzliche Spieler berufen werden, die noch nicht auf der Kaderliste der ursprünglichen 26 Spieler standen. Wenn zusätzliche Spieler berufen werden, muss eine entsprechende Zahl an Spielern aus dem 26er-Kader gestrichen werden.

- Wenn ein Team das Minimum von 13 Spielern nicht erreicht, kann das Spiel innerhalb der nächsten 48 Stunden neu angesetzt werden. „Wenn ein Spiel verschoben werden muss, aber im gleichen Stadion stattfinden kann, dann wird es am folgenden Tag um 12:00 Uhr oder 15:00 Uhr angepfiffen“, sagte UEFA-Turnierdirektor Martin Kallen der Nachrichtenagentur Keystone-SDA. Man habe auch die Möglichkeit, in ein Stadion auszuweichen, das nicht zu den elf EM-Arenen gehöre.

- Wenn eine Verlegung unmöglich ist, entscheidet die UEFA-Disziplinarkommission. Das Team, das für die die Absage verantwortlich ist, wird mit 0:3 als Verlierer gewertet. (Quelle) -

In the event of corona infections in teams during the European Championship, the European Football Union has issued the following rules: 

- A game will kick off as long as a team has 13 players, including a goalkeeper. 

- In order to reach this mark, additional players can be called who were not yet on the roster list of the original 26 players. If additional players are called up, a corresponding number of players must be removed from the 26-man squad.

- If a team does not reach the minimum number of 13 players, the game can be postponed within the next 48 hours. "If a game has to be postponed but can take place in the same stadium, it will kick off the next day at 12:00 or 15:00," said UEFA tournament director Martin Kallen of the Keystone-SDA news agency. You also have the option of moving to a stadium that is not one of the eleven EM arenas. 

- If it is impossible to move, the UEFA Disciplinary Committee decides. The team responsible for the rejection is rated 0: 3 as a loser.

Honestly, I love watching tournaments like the EURO or the World Cup, but here I have second thoughts...
