Nach Amy Winehouse nun auch Whitney Houston...Zum ersten Mal hörte ich sie vor mehr als 25 Jahren im April 1986, ich erinnere mich noch gut an die Gänsehaut, die ich bekam während sie sang, ihre Stimme war einfach überwältigend und wird sicher auch noch Generationen nach uns viele begeistern....-

 After Amy Winehouse now Whitney Houston too...For the first time I heard her more than 25 years ago in April 1986, I still remember that just hearing her voice gave me chills, a voice so overwhelmingly beautiful that for sure it will touch even generations after us...

Whitney Houston, gesegnet mit einem durch und durch musikalischen Familienhintergrund starb letzten Samstag nachmittag im Alter von nur 48 Jahren. Sie hinterlässt eine Tochter, Bobbi Kristina.

Ihre Mutter Cissy Houston, ihre Cousinen Dionne Warwick und Dee Dee Warwick, sowie ihre Patentante Aretha Franklin, durch die Bank bekannte Sängerinnen und selbst Legenden in der Welt von Gospel, Rhythm and Blues, Pop und Soul, haben sicher mit dazu beigetragen, dass sie nicht nur früh den Weg zur Musik fand, sondern auch dass sie ihren eigenen musikalischen Stil entwickeln konnte.Mutter Cissy brachte ihr das Singen bei, und Patentante Aretha, wie sie aufzutreten hatte.-

Whitney Houston, blessed with a thoroughly musical family background, died last Saturday afternoon at the age of 48 years. She leaves a daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

Her mother Cissy Houston, along with cousins Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick and godmother Aretha Franklin all notable figures and legends themselves in the world of gospel, rhythm and blues, pop, and soul, have all contributed to Whitney Houston's career and helped shaping her own musical style.Her mum taught her the singing, her godmother how to perform.-

Ich hatte gehofft, dass Whitney Houston es dank der starken Frauen in ihrem Rücken schafft, ihre Dämonen vielleicht langfristig doch zu bekämpfen, sich für ein Leben ohne Drogen zu entscheiden, nicht nur im Hinblick auf die Zukunft ihrer Tochter. Offenbar waren auch hier die Dämonen stärker, als alle Versprechen sich selbst gegenüber. Es ist ganz schade um eine Frau, die noch so vieles mehr war als ihre Stimme und es ist schade um das, was sie noch alles hätte sein können. So jung, viel zu jung.-

I was hoping that Whitney Houston would pull through thanks to the many strong women in her early life, that she would be able to get rid of the demons, which she was fighting more than once, that she would opt for a life without drugs, not only with regard to the future of her daughter. Obviously, here too the demons were stronger than all the promises made to herself. It is such a sad loss of a woman who was so much more than her voice and it's sad to think about who else she could have been. So young, too young. -
