Leap Day Babies in Rodrigues - Geboren am 29. Februar in Rodrigues

Wer den vorherigen Beitrag zum 29. Februar gelesen hat, wird festgestellt haben, dass er keine Zahlen über Geburten am 29. Februar in Rodrigues enthält.

Bei einem Besuch unseres lokalen Einwohnermeldeamts auch Civil Office oder L'Etat Civil genannt, konnte ich in Erfahrung bringen, dass seit 1920, bis dahin hat man Daten aus Port Mathurin in den PC eingegeben, genau 38 mal Kinder an diesem Tag geboren wurden. Addiert man noch die Zahlen der Zweigstelle La Ferme hinzu, erfasst seit 1990, kommt man auf 42 Kinder insgesamt.

In den letzten beiden Schaltjahren wurden jeweils 2 Kinder geboren, zuletzt im Jahr 2008 ein Mädchen und ein Junge.-

First of all some figures, as probably it did not go unnoticed that in my previous post about the 29th of February, no figures on births on leap day were mentioned for our island.

During a visit to our local residents' registration office also called Civil Office or L'Etat Civil, I was able to find out that since 1920, until then data of Port Mathurin was entered into the PC system, just 38 children were born on this day. Adding the numbers of the branch of La Ferme, collected since 1990, we get to a total of 42 children born on leap day..
In the last two leap years 2 children were born each time, most recently a girl and a boy in 2008. 

 Neugierig geworden, wie es denn dieses Jahr aussah, machte ich mich am 1. März gleich mal auf den Weg zum Krankenhaus in Crève Coeur, und siehe da, ich wurde fündig.Vier Kinder wurden auch bei uns geboren, zwar nicht Vierlinge wie in England, doch 2 Mädchen und 2 Jungen, alle gesund, und zwei von ihnen waren auch noch mit ihren Müttern auf der Entbindungsstation.-

But what about this year? Have there been any baby births yesterday? I was really curious and so I set out today for a visit to our local hospital in Crève Coeur, and it turned out to be a good decision. Four children were born on leap day, not quadruplets as in England, but 2 girls and 2 boys, all healthy, and two of them still there with their mums in the maternity ward.-

He too has not yet got a name but I am sure he will get an interesting one as all Rodriguans are very delicate and creative when it is about choosing names for their offspring...

Alle Babys wurden in der ersten Hälfte des Tages geboren, los ging es um 4 Uhr 15 mit der Geburt eines Jungen, gefolgt von einem Mädchen um 4 Uhr 45. Um 8 Uhr 56 gab es wieder einen kleinen Jungen und um kurz vor 12, genau um 11 Uhr 50 folgte noch ein kleines Mädchen. 

Diese 4 Geburten ließen die diesjährige Statistik gleich auf insgesamt 129 Babys in Rodrigues anwachsen.

Wir wünschen den kleinen Schätzchen alles Gute für ihre Zukunft, dass sie gesund bleiben und durch eine glückliche Kindheit gehen! -

 

All babies were born in the first half of the day, off it went by 4.15am with the birth of a boy, followed by a girl at 4.45am. At 8.56am there was again a little boy, and shortly before noon, exactly at 11.50am, another little baby girl followed.

These 4 births attributed to a total of 129 babies born so far until now in Rodrigues.We wish them all the very best for their future, may they stay healthy and go through a happy childhood!

Wie oft geheiratet wurde, steht noch in den Sternen, eins jedoch ist gewiss, gestern gab es eine Hochzeit, und eine ganz besondere noch dazu...

By the way....

How often weddings took place on a leap day remains still to discover, however, as to yesterday there was a wedding, and a very special one indeed....
